Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chris Urquiaga. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chris, appreciate you joining us today. How do you think about vacations as a business owner? Do you take them and if so, how? If you don’t, why not?
I definitely take vacations. Vacations are an important part of balance and life.
I have my assistant cover tasks for my business while I’m out on vacation.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am proud of how far my brand has come because my music career started from scratch. I simply learned from doing and went from there. Every project is a learning experience for me.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Outwork those around you…
I think that this is false because it makes you think that you always have something to prove to others when that is not the case. We just have to be our authentic selves. It’s not a competition, it’s a journey.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I made the decision to move from traditional pop to my urban Latin sound. This was around the same time I came out as gay.
I wanted to make my music and my life unapologetically me and it worked! I gained even more support from those closest to me and connected to fans on a deeper level through my vulnerability.
