Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chris Saldivar. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chris, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Let’s take it back almost 4 years ago to when Covid hit our planet. I was a full-time DJ of almost 18 years and full-time bartender at a brewery. I had attended college back when I was 18 with intentions of becoming a movie director. That obviously didnt work out and I found my love for music. I had a really good career as a DJ but as soon as COVID hit that all went away. I quickly pivoted to something else I knew which was how to use a camera. I started Tea Tree Productions and very quickly reached out to some real estate agents I knew trying to get a job shooting their listings. I was given a shot by a couple of them and now fast forward to current day, I run a team of 3 photographers, full time video and photo editors, my wife runs my social media, and I shoot as well as do all the day to day admin stuff. We currently shoot for over 200 RE agents in the Socal market and in May of this year I partnered with another RE media company in the Bay Area called Infinite Views. Together we plan on really taking over the real estate media industry in CA and beyond. We also have an office in AZ and plans on doing work in CO as well in the future. What sets us apart is the “one stop shop” aspect we offer agents. We can do everything from photos to video to drone aerial work and more! Taking the leap from a full time DJ to starting a media company was a huge risk but has been so rewarding for myself and my family. Cant wait to see what the future holds!
Chris, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I pretty much summed this all up in the previous question.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for us has been a mix of instagram social media outreach as well as much word of mouth referrals from current clients. We offer a referral credit to agents when they refer us and that new client books. It’s something a lot of other companies don’t do so agents love it when they see that credit on their account and can apply it to a future shoot.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
As mentioned in the first question I partnered with Infinite Views in the Bay Area in May of this year. I met Jonathan just through social media and different real estate/ filmmaking groups we were both in. I believe Jonathan reached out and the rest is history. His company is running the scene in Northern CA for real estate marketing media and we just felt it was such a good idea to partner up and attack CA as a whole.
