We were lucky to catch up with Chris “K” Kresge recently and have shared our conversation below.
Chris, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I hope my legacy will be as some friends once suggested as the “Dick Clark of Colorado music.”
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve been in music for my entire life – professionally since I was a teenager. I’ve been in broadcasting professionally since 1978.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
During the mid to late 90s my wife at the time and I owned a direct sales and marketing company. We got caught up in a bad business relationship and lost our business, our home and essentially became homeless. She left me. A year later while spending too much time online, I met my next wife and partner. She asked me a simple question: what do you want to do now that you’re in your mid-forties? I told her I was never going to wear a suit again. Instead I put together a band, returned to my first love (radio), and took over a fledgling restaurant/bar and music venue. That was in 2000. While COVID shut down the live music component of my endeavors, I still stay engaged professionally in radio with a regular weekly slot on a local radio station and a syndicated show broadcast by another eleven.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yeah … my mission is and for the past sixteen years has been to share the biggest hits by the biggest hitmakers and award winners in Colorado music history along with some of the freshest new music emerging from around the Centennial State (Colorado). Along with that, I continue to book and present live music and launched a non-profit to help locally based musicians who have suffered loses due to natural disasters.
