Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chris Jenkins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chris, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
Absolutely! I was really late to the game, in my opinion. I didn’t start playing guitar until roughly college. Just noodled. Didn’t take it seriously until I wanted to start my old band in 2015. Learned a lot from that group regarding the ropes of playing out, connections, etc.
Started Koluna in 2020. A few buddies were pretty much local free agents by the middle of the year and the rest is history.

Chris, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Koluna was formed during the Covid-19 pandemic around June of 2020. Initially it was intended to be a side project. It just took shape and took off as our time freed up. We were ready to go once shows came back in May 2021.
We were opening for touring bands by our 5th show. We have played with Attila, Gemini Syndrome, A Killer’s Confession, Tallah, Catch Your Breath, A Sound of Thunder, and many others since 2021.
We’re fans of many bands, but personal influences include: Gojira, Meshuggah, Tesseract, Deftones, Mick Gordon, Torche and many sludge/groove metal bands.
We can be found on Spotify and all other streaming outlets.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Probably seeing the people in the crowd enjoying the experience. I love to see others getting lost in the moment and being there. Money is not a goal here. Gas money is nice and selling merch is cool. Love seeing the support, but music is therapeutic for me to both play and experience, and I know it is for others, as well, so I am thrilled when we have a packed venue and we can all enjoy the time together.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Honestly, our friends were key to begin with. Believing in us, helping build local hype. We were out there promoting the band before shows came back in full force. We were able to build quickly at home.
I keep stickers on me all the time to give out like business cards anywhere I go and always wear our hats out and about. Just be socialable and it will naturally grow.
