We recently connected with Chris Hockaday and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?

I hope that my legacy one day will inspire others to continue to work in the field of UX Design and also enc0urage others to build your own platform. As a business owner, I can say that I appreciate every step of the process that I have went through, good and bad. I learned how important it is to step out on faith. If things don’t work, then it wasn’t apart of your legacy. It is also important to remember to give back. I would like to build something that is for social good and can also give back to the community.

Chris, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

TheCodeKing is my Web Design and Graphic Design business. My services range anywhere from websites to logos, to event flyers, I mean I do it all. My specialty or what sets me apart from others is my designs that take place into what I am delivering for my clients. If I am having a briefing with someone, one main thing we discuss is how can I build this to be different from anything in its lane. I then go further to do research to ensure it’s the best and what’s better than having your designs completed by TheCodeKing himself

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding part about being a creative would have to be delivering a product that could possibly change lives. I have had the blessings to work with a couple of different areas and industries that has created ways to directly impact the community and help change lives, which is something I am proud of. I also love the creative process from start to finish. I normally start with a paper wireframe to showcase what I am envisioning and so to build that into a website, app or any project is a great feeling for me,

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

Social media has been my best source of new clients. I also found it a best practice to promote my business EVERYWHERE I go. I created my own an electronic business card and so its quite easy to send my information to a potential client from my phone while engaging. It’s beneficial because it gives them direct access to my services and portfolio.
