Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chris Hennessy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chris, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today The first dollar you earn in a new endeavor is always special. We’d love to hear about how you got your first client that wasn’t a friend or family.
A business coach I was connected to on LinkedIn asked me to speak to her group coaching class about Livestreaming. She Livestreams and knew how effective it is at getting your message out there and was wanting her clients to start doing it.
I remember being nervous because I had just decided to move from livestreaming for fun to actually try and make it a business so I had all the imposter syndrome. I don’t know what I’m doing, who’s going to listen to what I say, all of it.
I gave the presentation over Zoom, answered questions and actually had a great time! The next day one of her clients messaged me and said she was interested in my 1:1 livestream training!!! About a month later we started and she now has a show that is amazing!
It was such a confidence boost! When her payment came through I screenshot the notification on my phone and saved it!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into livestreaming on LinkedIn 2 years ago. I saw a friend of mine doing it and it looked like fun. I’d bring people on the show (called So I Didi A Thing) and have cool conversations with cool people who were doing cool things. I saw how effective it was at getting your message out there, at showcasing your knowledge and expertise and at building a community.
That led to me starting a second show called Ending The Stigma. We talk about the stigma associated with felons and people who have struggled with addiction. The support we got on this was overwhelming and I really began to see how effective it was at getting your message out there.
The beauty of livestreaming is it is interactive. People can comment, ask questions and the host can answer them. People are networking in the comments and it turns into a party sometimes!!
All of this, and the increase in popularity of livestreaming led me to starting my business. Through my experience and things I’ve learned by trial and error I can help people craft a show that people want to show up to and talk about after it’s over.
If you’re a DIY kind of person I offer 1:1 or group training. We cover everything from how to run the software, strategies for making the show a success, equipment setup and tips and tricks on how to show up on camera.
Not a DIY person? I can produce the show for you. I do everything from promoting the event to running the show. All you have to do is find your guests and show up. I can even do post production. Clip parts of the stream to post on social media and also the audio to publish as a podcast.
It’s the best thing when I see a show I produce take off or when one of my training clients starts their show and they crush it!!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I work with anyone but I especially love working with other Christians. I love helping them find another avenue to get their message out there.
Have you ever had to pivot?
It’s not a huge pivot but it was one that was necessary. For awhile I had taken the training out of my list of services. I wanted to strictly produce. But I was running into more and more people who were like me. They were doing their thing as a side hustle, or they were new in starting their business and didn’t have the funds to pay for a producer but they wanted to livestream and wanted to do it well. So I put the training back in and have had more of those clients than I do production clients.
