We recently connected with Chris Gassler and have shared our conversation below.
Chris, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you share an important lesson you learned in a prior job that’s helped you in your career afterwards?
When it comes to creative endeavors. We will never be at a point in time where you can do enough. You would do well to always have something on the agenda, another project ahead of the one you’re currently taking on. The demand is not necessarily there in the same way it once was, and it will most assuredly never return to the world it once was. More tech has given many people the means to pursue the same dreams as you. Computer intelligence can work circles around you. The biggest benefit you can give to yourself is be analyzing your moves you make now, what moves you need to make towards the future, and what can you be working towards next.
Don’t rest for so long that you grow lazy.

Chris, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m someone who never likes to rest, if I could go without sleep, I gladly would.
I do a few different things. From working in the realm of art and animation- to doing live performance standup and improv. I’ve always had a craving to create and I first started with doing little comedy skits with a VHS camera and friends. Over the years I have had the pleasure of working in the film industry here and there in small small ways. Always fun and cool to be a part of. From time to time I still will work on live action projects but as of the last 4 years my attention has been focused in heavily towards video game design and production. There’s two titles currently being worked on that I can’t name drop just yet.
No matter what medium I strive to be doing what I love and what I want to do as much as possible.
I was introduced to the internet through my cousins. I was lucky to be brought up by my family who happened to be very keen to what was cool and revolutionary in the art world. My cousins showed me everything from the old CKY tapes, to ultra classic games like BanjoKazooie and Crash Bandicoot, most notably, they showed me Newgrounds.com. I was 5 years old and I never forgot that beautiful logo and layout, Even if I wasnt to have my own computer for a while- I never forgot it and would log in as much as I could to see what was new on the website.
Through the nearly endless pages on Newgrounds I became enraptured with flash animation. I knew from very early on what I wanted to do, and this was it. Cartoons had caught my eye but entertainment at large was my calling.
I had so many great works to look up to and creators to inspire to be like. It changed my life and set me on a direct path I knew I could follow if i practiced and worked toward it. Over the decades I’ve met and made a majority of my friends through the site and we all inspire each other to always stay working and stay creating. Something important to anyone wanting to do it is surround yourself with like-minded peers.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Putting something out there that didnt exist prior to you making it has always been a cool concept,
The cathartic feeling of finishing something itches a part of the brain you dont normally feel. It can become addicting. Like if someone ever is scratching your back- and then they like stop, you’re all like ” daaamn nooo’.
With any luck people may see the cool, weird, or funny things we can put out there, and it has sometimes a fun lasting effect. People change their daily speech patterns and mannerisms when they become so taken by certain pieces, or movies, or videos. Artistic works can inspire others to start or pursue expressing themselves in their own way which is, in my opinion, a healthy thing.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I don’t know nothing ’bout these things. tbh. I bought 80 dollars of fartcoin and that was really throwing caution to the wind.
My understanding of NFT’s is that they have been not popping off it seems.. I think this fartcoin is gunna be blow up tho.
