We recently connected with Chris Ewing and have shared our conversation below.
Chris, appreciate you joining us today. One of the toughest parts of scaling a business is maintaining quality as you grow. How have you managed to maintain quality? Any stories or advice?
The first year, Ivory & Green grew so much faster than I had anticipated. It was a great problem to have, but I had to do a lot of learning on the fly. This led to my business process being pieced together with whatever worked at the time.
As the years have gone on, I have had to slow down and reorganize, refine, and refocus much of my business in order to reach my goals. I have learned so much through experience and the amazing advice of my business peers. That slowing down and focusing on my own business behind the curtain, was critical!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
We are your friendly neighborhood designers, passionate about empowering home-grown and dreamer-owned businesses. We specialize in crafting brands and websites that help small, creative businesses stand out and succeed in their industries. What makes our work so special is that everything we create is equal parts stylish AND strategic. We know how to build a brand that embodies who you are & draws in more of your dream clients!

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Ivory & Green Creative House started as just me and my computer. In 2019, I stumbled into my passion for design. A self-taught hobby soon became my full-time job, as the 2020 pandemic gave me the time to opening my own business. I fell in love with crafting brands & websites for the creative businesses of my local community.
Since then, Ivory & Green has expanded at a mind-blowing pace. What started out as a solo operation, has grown to a full service Creative House with a team of incredible designers, marketing professionals, artists, photographers, & copywriters.
I attribute much of my success to good luck:
lucky timing that I launched when I did,
lucky meeting my our current marketing director, Shae, who pushed Ivory & Green into an entirely new level of operation,
and lucky to have a life partner like my husband, who supported me, emotionally and financially, when I was first getting Ivory & Green first off the ground!

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
We get most of our clients from Instagram and referrals! That positive share from a past client is what keeps our business turning!
