Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chris Dicken. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Chris, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?

I knew as a child. Being almost completely deaf in both ears and still was musically inclined to be able to sing and even still compose beautiful music on a piano. I knew from that point that God had given me this talent and that I should use it for his glory.

Chris, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

As you may already know my name is Dhris Dicken. My stage alter ego is CatFish or CatFishMusic. I am an independent country music artist and have been pursuing this dream since I was a child. I always strive my absolute best to give people a good show and quality music to listen to, which is why I’m almost always singing, trying to hone my craft.
My vision is simple: Just because you come from a small town doesn’t mean that you can’t tell your story.
Lots of people live without a legacy. But I want to be remembered as the guy who connected to people through music. I want to be known as the guy who, spoke to someone in a song and made them happier.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

If this question didn’t hit hard…wow….on June 27th of this year (2023) I became a single father and sole provider of my two sons. Being a single parent is HARD. Even more so on men in my opinion. But I’ve had to put my music aside temporarily to make sure I maintain a solid life for my boys. But the dream still burns white hot inside me like a star. I refuse to let this or ANYTHING stop me.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

This answer is simple. MY KIDS. I strive to give them a better life by any means necessary. Using my God given talent is the best way to do it. I just gotta get in the door.
