Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chris Carter . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Chris , thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
What I think it takes to be successful is passion, attention to details and understanding that the small wins add up.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My passion for cooking began in high school. It was my senior year of wrestling and the weight class I planned to dominate required a challenging weight cut. Through the process of cutting weight for competitions, I would frequently tune into Sarah Carey on Everyday Foods.Wrestling took me to California for college where I continued this method and even took on a plant-based lifestyle. After returning to Dallas I was unclear on what my next steps would be and with some research I came across a five week plant-based culinary course in New York. Without hesitation I booked a one-way flight. It was during my time in New York that I had truly unlocked my passion and calling for cooking. Creating elevated high-performance meals not only for professional athletes but for weekend warriors as well.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
My mother played a major role in turning my side hustle into a full-time business.
I briefly moved back in with my mother during the pandemic and offered to shop and prepare our weekly meals while she would take care of the grocery bill. I would post our meals on social media after crafting something new and exciting every week. The response was amazing and this gave me the confidence to prepare meals for others.
A major milestone for myself was the 2022 NFL Pre-Draft. I prepared 7,560 meals total for 40 players over the course of 9 weeks. I’m grateful for the opportunity, the learning lessons, the sleepless nights and overall grind.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
The Initial capital was put together during the pandemic. I would take my unemployment checks and purchase equipment piece by piece. This process took some time but was certainly worth it.
