We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chris Cannon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chris below.
Chris, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I’ve been around business and personal development most of my life. I wasn’t aware early on that there was a way to do something that included both of them, until I learned about life/business coaching. On my journey, I joined several personal development programs, coaching programs, went through coaching certifications and noticed a theme. These groups were filled with incredible people, but they were either broke or felt guilty making money.
Over the years, I’ve come to understand that these incredible people can’t help people for long, if they’re homeless. Somewhere down the line, there was a lie that was perpetuated regarding making lots of money and helping lots of people. I started to noticed that in all of the super hero movies the villain in the movie were rich and wealthy people. People that are good at heart, never want to be associated with being the villain, so unconsciously, many of the coaches I’ve seen and been around, rejected money, because of the unconscious negative association to it.
Once I recognized this theme, I got somewhat furious about this deception. I believe good people would do more good in the if they had more money to do good with. This then became a mission to help coaches make a significant amount more money while making a greater positive impact in the process.
I saw a few people have programs helping people overcome money blocks. I saw tons of people with general life coaching certification programs. However, I didn’t see any programs the helped with overcoming money blocks, providing life coaching certifications, while showing people how to make at least six figures and helping them, their clients, and their family. So I created it.
Based on the number of people that buy into coaching programs I knew this business had a great chance of succeeding, because the market has already voted with its wallet. This was something unique and exciting because I discovered a way to help great people, make great money, live a great legacy, and positively change lives for a living.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve written books, spoke all across the world, made lots of money, helped lots of people, been featured in top media, received several awards, but my greatest accomplishment and what I’m most proud of is my family. My experience had lead me to believe that you are only as successful as your spouse/household will allow you to be. If your home life is in shambles, everything you do outside of it will eventually reflect it. My marriage and my family is not perfect, but what I have is incredible!
When I first got married and had children, I remember having to be away from my wife and children and felt so guilty. This drove me so discover ways I could make money, help lots of people, and experience fulfillment, without ever leaving home. After several years of searching, I finally found the ultimate opportunity to meet that criteria. Based on my importance of family, I’m now committed to helping others (who feel called to leave a positive mark in the world) experience freedom, fulfillment, and the financial means to truly enjoy their family as well.
I believe that sometimes the things that brings you pain are the things that you become passionate about. This is what lead me to where I am today. As a result, I now show people how to take what they already know and turn it into a six figure coaching business working less than 20hrs/wk.
I believe what really sets me apart is my business is structured to help people live legacies and leave legacies to their families. Some programs teach how to be an awesome coach. Other programs just focus on making money. I believe that when you’re rewarded, your clients are rewarded, and your family is rewarded for their sacrifices to you along the way, that’s a triple win that will continue to prosper for generations to come. Coaching Influencer was designed to provide each coach with this experience!

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn is that I can’t do it all and I must hire help.
My family owned a clothing business before I was born. As his business grew, so did his locations and the amount of staff he had to pay. There were so many times I saw the pressure he was experiencing and a part of me never wanted that pressure or responsibility. Thinking about someone not being able to afford their bare necessities because I had a bad month, was something I didn’t want hovering over my head. So for years, I convinced myself that I would always be a one operator business owner.
Then I learned, the only way to grow and help more people are with systems and people. When you structure your business properly, the systems and people you hire, makes you much more than you pay them even when you pay them good.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I started my career in the positive youth development space. I remember speaking at a conference and after I came off the stage, there were several people lined up to talk with me. Two of them end of hiring me to coach them and many of the others purchased my products and newest book at the time.
Although, the focus of everything that I shared from the stage and what I shared off stage, was focused on youth. I realized at that conference, that I really enjoy training and coaching adults on and around business. Immediately after that conference, I hired a coach and began to make the transition and it’s been pretty amazing!
