We recently connected with Chris Brown and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Chris thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you manage your own social media?
Currently, I am active on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. These three platforms are each managed differently because they each have different audiences. My Instagram and TikTok are both managed by me. They are platforms I spend alot of time creating on to stay up to date with trends and engaging content. Youtube is managed by multiple people. I use YouTube for long form videos ranging from 10-15 mins. These videos are educational and related to living in las vegas and the lifestyle you get when you relocate from another area. I currently have an editor and strategist on a monthly retainer. The editor takes care of all my video editing after i create the video. I then have a strategist who uploads my videos to my channel and manages the channel, they create my titles and we have month meetings to go over analytics. I made the choice to invest in my youtube channel because the platform requires more attention. My job as a real estate advisor is to be out in the community and sitting at home editing long form videos is not the best use of my time when i need to be out prospecting. My strategist are a critical part of my channels success and helped me monetize in less than a year. If theres anything I can share with other business owners is understand the value of investing in the right team. You can’t grow alone and if you build the right team and systems you can grow significantly faster.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Chris Brown and I’m a Las Vegas REALTOR® with roots from Los Angeles who moved to Las Vegas after spending 3 years in Orlando’s collegiate and professional sports scene. Prior to Orlando I spent time in the Bay Area pursuing a Master’s Degree in Sport Management and working for the Golden State Warriors. Sports has always been apart of my life and as an athlete, I wanted to be in the industry as a competitor or even an employee. My time in Orlando ended abruptly when the company I was working for filed for bankruptcy. This led me to explore options of moving back to the west coast. I ended up in Las Vegas because it was close to home and I could follow my dream of getting into real estate. I got my license here in Nevada in 2019 and quickly fell in love with the business. I got into social media content creation as a way to get around the city and learn new places to go. I then started to use that as apart of my marketing strategy. I currently receive 90% of my business from social media. The platforms I use bring me a lot of traffic from people who are relocating to las vegas or just visiting. My strategy is to show people how to live in las vegas because that is a huge factor in deciding if you want to buy here. The house is important sure but the lifestyle is also important. It’s all about lifestyle before deciding to buy. Many of my followers know me as the go to for everything las vegas and trust my recommendations. My brand online is CB.LasVegas and I elevate my brand as the source for what consumers enjoy in the city when they are thinking about buying a home here.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
To begin my real estate career i had a full time job at UNLV and was working part time in real estate. During this time I was learning the business and didn’t really have a clientele. I was literally just a license holder. After a year in this role and still not having clients I decided that i was going to resign from my position on a specific date no matter what. When this date came around I finally resigned and went full on into my real estate career. Even though I was finally a full time agent I still had no clients. It took me going into neatly my third year in the industry before I closed a deal. So many people get into this business and think its easy to sell a house. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Third is a business that requires your time and patience. To can’t become a overnight success in real estate and not closing a deal in my first two years taught me that this was going to be a grind like no other. You have to be willing to be comfortable being uncomfortable in real estate because it’s a business that if you dont work you dont eat.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I had to pivot in my life when my job in Florida was suddenly no longer there. Something that I worked so hard to obtain and moved across the country for was gone in a heartbeat and there wasn’t anything I could do about it. The only reason why I came to vegas was because a friend of mine offered me a place to stay until I got back on my feet. It was humbling and an experience that just pushed me through a low point in my life. Finding real estate gave me purpose in myself because now I knew I would get back everything I felt like I lost in Florida.
