Chris, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
I opened up a SEO and website design consultancy with my relative and good friend, Kaspars Milbers (now the CTO of the company I lead). I got to know about the digital marketing industry itself from him. Soon enough, I realized entrepreneurship is hard. But that didn’t deter me from continuing on the journey.
We didn’t continue with that venture. But based on that experience, I joined On The Map Marketing seven years ago as a SEO project manager. I kept solving internal company problems to get promoted to the CMO, and ultimately the CEO of the company (and get sweet perks such as equity).



Chris, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Between 2016 to early 2019, most of our internal teams at On The Map Marketing were seeking answers. We were working hard and trying to figure the reason our company had stopped growing. That’s when we realized our departments were working in silos, and working hard is not sufficient.
So we started to use entrepreneurial operational system (EOS) system to build robust company & meeting structures and goal setting frameworks. We unlocked the ability to grow faster and achieve our goals in a quicker way by having all of our teams working in sync — and keeping each other accountable.



We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
My current business partner and cofounder, Kaspars Milbergs, go a long way back as he’s a relative. We were hanging out in a Christmas party once when he was browsing through women lingerie website on his laptop. I got apprehensive as there were kids around us, and went over to him. I said “hey, this is not appropriate.”
Kaspars started laughing. He then chimed in explaining that he’s a web designer and explained stuff about digital marketing. That introduction got me excited about the prospects in this industry, and we started a website design consultancy together. Today, we are both an integral part of On The Map Marketing as its CEO & CTO.
