We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chris Allen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chris below.
Alright, Chris thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us about an important lesson you learned while working at a prior job?
Transparency, respect, and relatable. Demonstrating this level of honesty and respect towards your team, partners, clients and stakeholders is undoubtedly a hallmark of effective leadership in my opinion. By providing clear explanations for your decisions, you not only build trust but also foster a culture of open dialogue and mutual understanding. This approach will undoubtedly contribute to the success and longevity of your company.
Working jobs where you were given a task and said to do them without explanation or because I said so always bothered me. I liked to know why’s behind my task. It didn’t matter if I agreed with the reason or not but putting that purposes behind the task meant I was respect as a valued employee. They wanted me too be informed on what was going on in a company I invested in.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a humble individual, that just wants to be successful. From a young age I had a passion for the entertainment industry that was kindled by observing my father’s work in the wedding videography industry. It wasn’t until the late 2000s, while with a local motorcycle social club, that I first tried my hand at DJing.
Upon joining the United States Air Force in 2011, DJing became more of a personal pastime. It was during my time in North Carolina that I encountered four remarkable individuals who transformed my perspective on this craft. They motivated me to hone my skills and become the tech guru of our group.
Life’s twists and turns led two of my fellow enthusiasts and me to take a bold step and establish an official company. Little did I know, that decision marked the inception of an extraordinary, albeit adventurous, journey. As time has progressed, I find myself at the helm, but the connections forged and friendships made along the way have been nothing short of extraordinary.
You’ll find a diverse array of services, ranging from DJing and professional emceeing to creating ambient atmospheres with up-lighting. I also provide unique experiences like photo booths, video booths, custom monograms, and whimsical effects such as ‘dancing on the clouds’.
When you choose my company, you’re not just hiring a service; you’re welcoming a family member into your special occasion. Your event’s success matters deeply to me. I’ve equipped my clients with a wealth of tools to ensure their event is a resounding triumph. My foundation is built on the principles of unwavering customer service, a value instilled in me from an early age. It’s this commitment to quality service that I hold as my badge of honor.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I shifted my approach from competition to authenticity. That not only built genuine connections with similar companies and industry partners but also allowed me to showcase my work across various social media platforms. I overcame my discomfort with being in front of the camera. People value a personal connection with the face behind the company.
Adapting your advertising strategies based on evolving trends is a savvy move. What worked in the past may not yield the same results in the present, and your willingness to explore new avenues is a testament to your adaptability and willingness to grow. This open-mindedness is a crucial asset, as it keeps you receptive to opportunities that may arise in the future.
Remember change is inevitable, and staying prepared for shifts in the industry landscape is essential for sustained success. By maintaining this proactive mindset, you ensure that you’re always positioned to seize new opportunities and serve potential clients effectively. This adaptability is a key factor in your continued growth and success.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Again not being in competition with anyone but yourself. When I first started out I thought I had to be the like the biggest companies out. This lead to money I shouldn’t have spent. I was operating in the red. What a scary thought right. I learned to just be me and to compete with me and only me. Once I did that things became alot clearer and somewhat easier.
