Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Choko. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Choko, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Everything started in high school when I picked up a camera for a video technology class.
I fell in love with filming the process of editing and the results when I get to see my project finalize.
At the age of 16 and 17 I realize I love being an Entertainer and also directing and editing my videos
I stayed consistent Through The Years working on projects posting on Facebook and YouTube and MySpace. Until things took off in 2015 I was able to quit my job which I was working in the medical field and the pharmacy industry for almost 8 years.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My videos have always been rooted or inspired by music. Whether it’s a comedy video or just me simply dancing.. all my ideas start with a song.
Being African American and Latino (Afro Latino) I grew up listening to so many songs and so that also helped with a lot of inspiration with my ideas.
I think what sets me apart is my imagination. I’m never scared to express exactly what I imagine and I put it together in my craft in my videos I’m my art.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
So I worked in the pharmacy industry for almost 8 plus years
I was struggling going back and forth trying to figure out how I can pursue being an Entertainer full time. I tried to quit in 2014 and things didn’t go as planned so I had to end up going back to work for a few months.
The bills were killing me LOL.
I was door dashing I was a photographer freelancing at different clubs.. filming and editing videos for weddings and restaurants it was alot but wasn’t enough.
After going back to the pharmacy for a few more months I decided to take another leap once again around 2015
I had a video go viral and I capitalized on that moment and from there the rest is history I haven’t looked back since 2015 and I have been doing so many things so many amazing opportunities so many blessings to meet different people in the industry celebrities people I watch growing up working side by side with them and most importantly I control my schedule I work at my pace and I do what I love every single day and I never take it for granted.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
When my video went viral I decided the videos that I produced online I wanted to create it something live so I can present to people at shows at birthday parties or events. So everything I was posting on social media I started to present that to the audience to give them that experience so they can laugh and enjoy the positive energy I love to create
And now I’ve have worked along side Will.iam from the Black Eyed Peas
I choreographed the music video for them and I also performed at the MTV Awards alongside with them in 2020.
Ive performed with the New Kids on the Block at the Texas Livestock Rodeo
I’ve directed and collaborated with the legendary comedian Tommy Davidson from the show In Living Color.
I’ve also performed with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony on stage in Houston Texas and collaborated on a few videos and songs with Flesh and Bone (One of the artist from the group).
And to think it all started from one video in my apartment in 2015.
