We recently connected with Chloe Webb and have shared our conversation below.
Chloe , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
My father is my hero and inspiration behind my photography. He was a rock band photographer for a radio station in my hometown. He took photos of many stars such as Van Halen and Bon Jovi. Growing up I was always exposed to photography and heard about his stories shooting photos. My mother also spent a lot of time working at a photo developing store as well. It shaped my love for photography and at a very early age and was gifted a camera to start my journey with. It’s been non stop ever since.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Chloe Webb and I am the owner and photographer of Chloe Webb Photography. I have been taking photos since I could remember, asking for a DSLR camera for Christmas when I was around 10 years old. I began taking photos of anything and everything I could. I began posting my photos and people in my home room knew I took photos. My first paid photography job was when I was 15 and it was a real estate job for my friends mother who was a real estate agent. I remember how excited I was to receive my first payment from a photography job after taking photos for so long. It made me realize that this could be something I could do for the rest of my life at such a young age. Shortly after, my parents left Texas and moved to Virginia where I continued high school. I didn’t take photos for a while. Then COVID hit so there wasn’t much to take photos of besides the occasional phone photos I would take. After graduating high school and starting online college, I started my career as a a behavioral therapist. I began getting into automotive photography because I would attend truck and car events and took my camera with me. I began gaining a following because of my consist attendance at truck events, I enjoyed taking photos of vehicles for about 2 years or so, but something about it wasn’t fulfilling to me. I was then asked by a mutual friend if I’d be interested in shooting a wedding. A wedding, I thought. I had never done anything like that before. But I am always up for new challenges and I took the job. After that wedding I knew that this was what I was meant to do. It’s such a passion of mine to capture the love of others. Although photography is a part time job and I love working with children with autism. After recently finishing school with my Bachelor’s, I was faced with the question of if I was going to get my masters degree to become a behavior analyst. I convinced myself that I would go forward with getting my masters but I was getting more photography jobs in 2024 I quickly knew that I was meant to do photography. I hope that one day this can become a full time job for me.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I was in college for my degree in psychology. I work as a behavior therapist with children with autism. I love what I do because it resonates with me as my brother has autism conditions. But in the year 2024 when I was continuing to get more photography jobs doing portraits and couples, I realized more that that is what I wanted to pursue and not a masters degree in psychology.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I build relationships with my clients. I’m taking photos of milestones and special moments in people’s lives and they cherish them forever. I have had several clients who I have captured different milestones in their lives and they trust me to capture these memories for them. The photos I take hold memories forever and it is so special to me and my clients.
