We were lucky to catch up with Chloe Shanice recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Chloe , thanks for joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I took in life was deciding to move to a new city with my husband and start a new career in the esthetics industry. Trusting God and knowing that I was moving according to his will was my biggest motivator. I am originally from West Palm Beach, FL, born and raised. During the pandemic my husband and I made the choice to move to Tampa, FL in order to experience a new environment and culture. Tampa is so diverse and there were so many opportunities for small businesses to showcase what they do and offer. So we took a leap of faith and moved. I have always been in the medical field, for over 10 years to be exact, and also the beauty industry. So I decided to go further my education and become an esthetician. With my combined knowledge of the medical field and now the esthetics industry, I felt compelled to go full force with with starting my own skincare and self care studio. I had already taken the biggest step in moving to a new city, so starting a new business was nothing to be scared of. I won’t lie, it was very hard starting out, because I had no true income, and no clientele. I remained hopeful that over time my business would flourish. Hope, prayer, and patience really have been a driving force to keep going.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
My name is Chloe Shanice and I am the owner of Skyncense Studios (Pronounced Skin-Sense), Skincare & Self-Care Spa located in Tampa, FL. I have always been a lover of all things self-care. I combined my passion for skincare, and self care to create a safe space and haven for those wanting to better themselves from the inside out. I am an esthetician, certified acne specialist and self-care coach. I take pride in helping women, men and teens treat their skin issues such as acne, and hyperpigmentation with the use of customized facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion and much more, along while teaching them to practice self-care unapologetically while building their self -confidence.
I suffered my own insecurities when dealing with skin issues and a lack of self-love. After many ups and downs, research, prayer, and faith, I was able to learn how to heal and clear up my skin, and love and nurture myself. The same way I was able to create that safe space and truly identify what self-care meant to me, I wanted to create that for others. So thus Skyncense Studios was formed. I started in the end of 2021 with just focusing on the corrective treatment of skin, to then expanding to encompass all things self-care, through coaching and workshops.
I am most proud of the fact that I can truly make a difference in the lives of each individual I meet. Skincare & Self-Care is not a luxury but a priority, and I love being able to open up people to the importance of that.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
All of my clients know that I am an open book! I allow my clients to have access to me through call, text, email or social media. There is never a question, that I wont answer, and if I don’t have an answer I will find it. I make a priority to send out messages and emails to my clients to let them know I care and I am available to them. I also recently started a newsletter so my clients can further stay connected with me. I have always been my authentic self and I have always shown a genuine interest in each and every client I meet. Being personable, not swaying from my niche and being upfront and honest with goals and expectations has really solidified my brand loyalty.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Being in the beauty / esthetics industry has not been easy, especially because it one of those fields it seems like so many people are in, and competition is fierce, but what really helped me build my reputation within this market is having a niche. No matter what field you are in, being a jack of all trades and a master of none will not get you where you want to be. My reputation has grown because of my focused specialties. My brand identity also develops over time, the core value stays the same. Promoting Skincare and Self-Care.
Dare to be different. There is no need to compete with everyone around you. Find out your passion and run with it. Be honest with not only your clients but yourself also. A good reputation comes from consistency, honesty, authenticity, and sincerity.
