We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chloe Lewis . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chloe below.
Chloe , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I came up with the idea of PicturePostcard when I realized my life was Postcard worthy. My blog encompasses all the things I love: good food, travel and romance. PicturePostcard originally started out as a creative outlet for me to pour more into the things I’m passionate about. As my page started to grow in size, I decided to start looking at ways to monetize my talents. My page is a constant reminder that consistency and remaining true to your authentic self will always pay off. Looking back I never thought that sharing what I like to do, would get me this far, but it did. Some of the emotions I’ve experienced as a content creator included fear, being overwhelmed and sometimes discouragement. On the other side I feel a sense of fulfillment and pride in the fact that I didn’t give up on my dreams. I knew I could succeed because I was doing what I love and investing all of me into my business.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
PicturePostcard was created on January 27th, 2019. I picked up my camera and I said I’m just going to do this! This determination led me to creating my Instagram Page. I still remember my first post, how ironic it highlighted a small business as well. I currently work with brands and small businesses to help them market their product to a broader audience. Some of this work includes restaurant reviews and reviews of the latest hot spots! The thing I’m most proud of when it comes to my business is how I’m able to keep my audience engaged, while still maintaining client satisfaction. My business has been featured multiple times in various Dallas magazines. I’m also a Concierge for a new Food App. Even with my success, I’m even more committed to becoming better.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
The creation of reels forced me to pivot my business. My Instagram page was originally designed to display only pictures, to give my audience the illusion they are viewing my work from a Postcard. When Instagram changed up the algorithms, I had to adjust to these new changes even with my own internal pushback. There is beauty in change. Not only have reels help me add more personality and creativity into my posts, they have also helped me grow my audience. As a content creator we have to sometimes jump on the “trendy wave” to stay current. I’m learning you can still be trendy and stay true to yourself. It’s just a matter of finding the right balance.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
There are so many resources that I wish I knew in the beginning of my journey! I can not stress the importance of networking enough! I just recently started taking networking seriously. Networking has helped me grow my brand even more and I’m able to bounce ideas and collaborate with others in my niche. As a content creator it is so important to have that sense of support and community. I also have started working with businesses that are here to help advance bloggers like myself forward. Do not attach your worth and brand to a follower count, continue to do what you love and the growth will come.
