The Dirty Girl Scouts: A Heartwarming Tale of Strength, Friendship, and Transformation
At the start of my fitness career, I was eager to make a meaningful impact, not just professionally but on the lives of others. That’s when I had an idea that would change everything: I offered free training to any woman who wanted to join my Tough Mudder team in 2013. Little did I know that this decision would lead to one of the most heartwarming experiences of my life.
Over 50 women signed up, each of them unique, with different reasons for wanting to take on this challenge. Most of them were in their 40s, juggling busy lives, families, and careers. Many doubted their ability to complete a grueling 12-mile obstacle course. But they showed up, ready to try. What unfolded over the months of training together was nothing short of magical.
Watching these women transform, not just physically but emotionally, was incredibly moving. Week by week, they gained strength they didn’t know they had and courage they thought they’d lost. They cheered for each other, lifted each other up—literally and figuratively—and formed bonds that went far beyond fitness. There were moments of struggle and vulnerability, but they were met with support, laughter, and unwavering encouragement.
We named ourselves the “Dirty Girl Scouts,” a fitting title for a team that embraced both the adventure and camaraderie of this journey. By race day, 46 women stood at the starting line, ready to face the Tough Mudder—a course that tested not only their physical limits but their emotional resilience.
Each obstacle brought its own challenges: towering walls that required teamwork to scale, tight spaces that triggered fears of claustrophobia, and water crossings that pushed some to the edge of their comfort zones. But every time someone hesitated, the team surrounded her with encouragement and hands to help her through.
The heartwarming moments were countless: a woman terrified of heights shaking as she climbed a tall obstacle, only to burst into tears of joy when she reached the top, surrounded by cheers. Another who feared she’d never be able to complete the race finished hand-in-hand with teammates who refused to let her give up. These women didn’t just overcome obstacles; they overcame fears, doubts, and insecurities.
When they crossed the finish line, it wasn’t just as individuals but as a team, stronger and closer than they had ever imagined. Seeing their joy, their pride, and the tears in their eyes as they hugged each other was a moment I’ll never forget.
This experience wasn’t just about fitness. It was about connection, empowerment, and the power of a supportive community. These women taught me how life-changing it can be to set a goal and pursue it with the encouragement of others. They reminded me that we’re capable of so much more when we face challenges together.
To this day, the Dirty Girl Scouts remain a symbol of what’s possible when determination and kindness collide. The experience shaped not only their lives but also mine, reinforcing my belief in the incredible strength of the human spirit—and the beauty of lifting each other up.

About Me, My Services, and My Passion for Wellness
My journey into the wellness industry began with a deep desire to help people transform their lives—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. I started my career in fitness, where I spent years helping clients build confidence, resilience, and strength through movement. However, in 2023, I made the decision to shift my focus entirely to massage, yoga, and retreats—areas where I felt I could create even deeper and more transformative experiences for my clients.
Today, my work is all about guiding people toward balance, relaxation, and a stronger connection with themselves. I specialize in:
• Yoga Classes: I teach yoga at a local studio, offering a range of classes tailored to meet clients where they are, from calming restorative flows to dynamic sequences that build strength and flexibility.
• Massage Therapy: Using personalized therapeutic techniques to relieve tension, ease pain, and support overall well-being.
• Wellness Retreats: Curating immersive experiences that combine yoga, mindfulness, and self-care, giving participants the space to unplug, reflect, and recharge.
My Commitment to Growth:
I believe that learning is a lifelong journey, and I’m constantly seeking ways to deepen my knowledge and expand my offerings. This September, I’ll be starting a new chapter by going back to school to become an Ayurvedic practitioner. Ayurveda’s holistic approach to health aligns perfectly with my mission, and I’m excited to integrate these ancient practices into my work.

What makes my practice unique is the heart and care I bring to every interaction. Whether it’s a yoga session, a massage, or a retreat, I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where clients feel truly seen and supported. My work goes beyond physical wellness, focusing on the mind and spirit as well.
Additionally, my retreats are about more than just relaxation—they’re about transformation, connection, and creating lasting memories. Each retreat is designed to empower participants to reconnect with their inner selves and build a supportive community with others.
What I’m Most Proud Of:
I’m incredibly proud of the people I’ve had the honor to work with. Witnessing their transformations—whether it’s overcoming challenges, rediscovering joy, or embracing self-care—has been one of the greatest rewards of my career.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
For me, the most effective strategy has been staying true to who I am and leading by example. I focus on being authentically myself—living the same values I share with my clients, practicing what I preach, and approaching my work with genuine care and integrity.
I’ve always believed that when you give your best to each client—whether it’s through a massage session, yoga class, or retreat experience—it leaves a lasting impact. That dedication and authenticity create trust, which is the foundation of any strong relationship.
From there, word of mouth has been the key driver of my growth. Happy clients naturally share their experiences with others, and I’ve been fortunate to build a strong, loyal base of recurring clients who feel more like friends and part of a larger community. It’s those connections and the sense of trust and care I strive to cultivate that have allowed my practice to flourish.
Ultimately, it’s about more than just growing a business—it’s about building meaningful relationships and creating a positive ripple effect through the work I do.

Can you open up about how you managed the initial funding?
Hard work and determination! I started from pretty much nothing—no loans, no big investments—just a dream and a willingness to put in the effort. I began with the bare minimum, using what I had and building slowly over time. Every tool, piece of equipment, and resource I use today is something I’ve worked hard to afford as I’ve grown.
In the beginning, it meant long days, working weekends, and making sacrifices to keep moving forward. It hasn’t always been easy, but every step has been worth it. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I also know there’s still a long road ahead.
This journey has taught me the value of persistence and resourcefulness, and it’s a constant reminder of what’s possible when you believe in what you’re building.
