We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chloe Arambel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Chloe, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Early in your career, how did you think through the decision of whether to start your own firm or join an established firm?
Graduating from Syracuse University just months into the pandemic, I really wasn’t sure where my life would pan out—similar to everyone else in the world. My background was in political science and international relations; however, I knew I wasn’t made to be a politician. That said, I always had an affinity for entertainment and using my writing and creative skills. Thus, sparked my passion for public relations. I found The Brand Agency just before graduating, before the world shut down, and bugged Priscila Martinez, the agency’s CEO & Founder, for about six long months before she took a chance and hired me. I was first drawn to the agency’s women-power nature and stayed for the people and culture. I know I was meant to find this place, where I’ve grown tremendously under inspiring leaders.

Chloe, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Los Angeles-based publicist and storyteller working with some of the world’s most beloved streaming services like Prime Video, Hulu and Paramount+, as well as high caliber brands like ESPN, ColourPop and Albertsons. I’ve helmed strategic media relations for nationally recognized campaigns such as the Fifth Ave. takeover in New York for the final season of ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,’ Paramount+’s tour of The Lodge, Apple TV+’s debut at San Diego Comic-Con for ‘Severance,’ ColourPop’s collection launch with the NBA and many others in the entertainment and lifestyle spaces. I’ve also been recognized as one of PRNEWS’ Top Women in PR.
I also lead the marketing and social media teams at The Brand Agency with my skills in Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, web design, copywriting and more.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
I’ve learned how to be a leader from the best—our agency’s CEO & Founder. She’s taught me that being a genuinely good person already leads you down a path to be a great manager. As long as you care about the people that you work with, and understand that sometimes life can come in and take priority, your team will appreciate it. Balancing work with life for not only your employees but yourself, too, is key. Leaders must practice what they preach in order for their team to truly implement those same practices for themselves.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’m starting to learn that life is full of changes and pivots, more so this past year than any other year. Well, hey—I guess that’s what growing up is! In our field of work, we’re always having to pivot, or think of strategies even before the pivot in case it might happen in the future, if a certain pitch to press isn’t landing or if current events shake up the industry. It’s always important to keep your finger on the pulse, digest news from all sides of the spectrum, and consume various ideas from the people around you to make sure when you do need to pivot, you know the best path forward.
