We recently connected with Chingya Weng and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Chingya thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I believe the most efficient way to learn is by working directly on a project. You can’t anticipate the challenges you’ll face until you dive in. Therefore, the essential keys to learning are curiosity and the ability to find the right resources. The main obstacle is assuming you already know everything. Nowadays, everything changes so quickly, and there are always new and better ways to achieve your goals.

Chingya, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hey there! I’m Ching-ya, a graphic designer and illustrator hanging out in NYC. I’ve got a passion for all things creative, specializing in illustration, branding, digital media, and a bunch of other cool stuff. I’ve been lucky enough to have my work recognized by the American Illustration Awards and Creative Quarterly.
Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work with some amazing clients like The New York Times, Intelligentsia Coffee, and United Daily News. It’s been a wild ride, and I’ve even had my work displayed in iconic spots like Times Square and the Queens Botanical Garden.
With a solid background in graphic design, I bring a mix of creativity and expertise to every project I take on. Whether it’s a big campaign or a small illustration, I love diving into new challenges and coming up with unique solutions. So, that’s a little bit about me—thanks for stopping by!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
When I get inspired by brainstorming sessions with my coworkers or clients, it’s always such an awesome experience. Seeing things from differenet perspectives really opens my eyes to new aspects of the projects we’re working on. It’s like a lightbulb moment every time someone shares a fresh idea or a different angle.
And, of course, nothing beats that feeling when the client is thrilled with the final result. That sense of accomplishment is honestly the best. It’s the kind of moment that makes all the hard work worth it and keeps me excited for the next project.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I believe my goal is always to create something that I genuinely enjoy and am proud of. I think it’s important to have this mindset when creating. It not only makes the process more fulfilling but also ensures that the final product reflects my passion and dedication. In the end, when you love what you do, it shows in your work, and that makes all the difference.
