Hi Chinaka, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?

From the perspective of a content creator and a full-time college student, I think success comes down to a combination of passion, discipline, commitment, and gratitude, each playing a key role in navigating the challenges that come with balancing life, creative works, academics and career building.

As a content creator, you need a strong drive to keep creating, even when things don’t immediately take off. The road to growing an audience can be long and filled with setbacks, like slow growth or low engagement. But if you’re driven and have a strong passion for creating and sharing what you love, it becomes easier to keep going. As a college student, it’s easy to get caught up in the stress of deadlines and assignments, but taking a moment to appreciate the opportunities you have, like the ability to learn and create, can keep you motivated.

Balancing being a content creator and a college student means time management becomes a major challenge I remember some nights where I’d finish studying for an exam or work, and then stay up editing a video for my social media pages. It wasn’t always easy, but being committed to both my studies and content creation has been essential to seeing progress. If you’re not committed, it’s easy to burn out or give up. For me, having a routine is critical. I dedicate certain hours of the day to content creation and make sure I’m staying consistent with uploading, even when I feel overwhelmed.

Chinaka, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Hello, I am Chinaka Mezu. I am a college student and part-time lifestyle, fashion, and college content creator based in Maryland, USA. I have developed a passion for inspiring others and content creation when I was young, but have been consistently creating content for over 4 years and have loved every second of the journey. I have had many opportunities to work with several well-known brands and attend events, and acquire brand deals and partnerships. The experience I have had thus far is something I am so grateful for and can not wait to continue on in the future. Some days and weeks there are set-backs, when it comes to content creation, not every post or creative work will get the outcome you want, but its about the process and the little things and excitement of editing and creating that keeps my drive and passion for content creation going. I would recommend to anyone starting out as a content creator to keep going and enjoy every step of the process and don’t be discouraged when things don’t always go your way.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being a content creator for me is being able to inspire and motivate others to simply do better. There is a lot of negativity in this world, and everyone has their own story. However, if one thing I pose to create helps others the slightest bit that makes my day, so I love creating a safe space for others, and being real and true to myself to attract a real audience and allow those to relate to me.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?

Several social media platforms and pages have helped me stay true to myself and the purpose behind my content, as well as Inspired me to create more. Some of those have been Pinterest, Lemon8, and Tiktok.
