We recently connected with Chill Will Da Don and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Chill Will thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I think I knew I wanted to be an artist when I would be lay cassette tapes on the boom box and I would rewind whatever song was playing to hear fully what they were saying and most importantly how they were saying it and if it had meaning behind it!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got in the industry full time around 2003 when I was in college in Tyler Texas. I was playing college football but I had more time than I did in high school to work on music when I wasn’t practicing football. I think what sets me apart is my thought process and how I see the finish line before I write the lyrics down. I think the most thing I’m proud of is hearing 2 of my songs on The Dallas Radio station K104 and it’s hard to get on the radio!
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I always say this 2pac and Muhammad Ali were resources that I studied when I was younger and they both taught me valuable lessons. One lesson was they were always for the people and they wanted everyone to have a fair shake in America. They stood up for what they believed even if the media crucified them for it.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I get to express myself anytime I want to and I can let it all spill out. Always having an outlet to vent is much needed for me.
