Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to CHILL WILL. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, CHILL WILL thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I grew up listening to music. The first song I remember listening to that made me wanna be do music was Changes by Tupac. I had started writing songs in 07-08 they weren’t really that good. The first song that I remember going to the studio to record was a song called Life in Music. I have friends who worked in the music industry and they saw the potential I had. I wasn’t super confident in my ability to sing or even rap. I remember in I believe it was 2015 or so, my best friend had me write a freestyle to an instrumental, which I ended up doing. When doing this freestyle to him and another friend I remember seeing their reactions to certain lines made me want to do it professionally. I have since gone on to release an album in TRUE LOVE STORY that I remember working on for 2-3 years. I have been told that I’m someone who will keep coming back to make this dream work. I’m starting a 2nd album I’m not sure on the name or even the theme, but my priorities are these 2 big name features I’ve since been able to get though a producer.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a singer, songwriter and rapper. I feel what sets me aside from other artists is my way to connect to the listener. I pride myself on being authentic to myself. Meaning I will write my own verse and if I have to write a hook I will but I’m not the best at that. What are the main things I want people to know about my brand? That’s tough because I’m someone who will do everything in my power to get a task done in a reasonable amount of time. As well as providing whoever I’m working with the absolute best I can provide them.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I honestly wish I had used social media as bad as it is for people’s mental health sooner. It’s so useful for making connections and to reach out to other artists and producers.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect was when my bestfriend who to my knowledge hasn’t heard my music since the first song I made. When he told me how I have this ability to connect to the listener.
