Chiante’ , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

Since I was a young girl I have always had a passion for fashion, I came up with the idea of becoming a boutique owner when I walked into a franchised owned clothing store that only had a small selection of plus size clothing at that moment I knew it was Time for me to start my own plus size women’s boutique to cater to women like me, I bought a flight to LA and sourced vendors in the fashion district and executed my plan. I rented out a small 300 sq ft studio and turned it into my very own store. 3 years later I have a 800 sq ft store.

My name is Chiante’ Person, I am 30 years old, I own a plus size women’s boutique in Toledo,OH we specialize in plus size clothing we carry sizes 1X-3X. We are stocked with items like T-shirts, dresses, jumpsuits, denim jeans, 2 piece sets etc… My story began when I registered for my llc in 2019 I always knew I wanted to do something with fashion just needed more resources so I began sourcing vendors for one year, I purchased a flight to the fashion district in LA went and sourced vendors and launched my boutique during the COVID PANDEMIC in 2020 out of my 300 sq ft suite, I only wanted to do online but my customers enjoyed the in store shopping experience we are now in a 800 sq ft suite three years later.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Staying consistent with trendy inventory and using my social media outlets such as TikTok, instagram, and Facebook platforms to post content.

Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?

I use Shopify for my E-commerce website (curvygirlsmatterboutique.com) Shopify is very easy and priced perfect for our budget and I also enjoy the perks of having a marketing app to send e-mail updates to my customers as well as SMS messages. Also we were just selected to join TikTok shop and will be launching our shop in the next few weeks via TikTok which is very exciting. We can be followed at @curvygirlsmatter
