Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chi Quach. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Chi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I was fortunate to enroll in one of the best—and few—User Experience Design programs in the country. The courses at SCAD tailor closely to what the industry is looking for. It’s fair to say that SCAD helps students feel prepared and confident stepping into their professional paths.
Outside of school, having a community that’s passionate about the craft of design is important too. I spent a lot of time getting involved in clubs, since having these workshops and activities creates a safe space to exchange ideas and learn from one another.
I also learned a lot about what I know now through recreating inspirations. Like when I first learned to play the piano—it’s important to keep practicing the songs that have already been written. Once you excel with your fingers and understand music theory, you can start creating your own music. Likewise, by replicating elements from existing art, I figured out my own way to add a unique twist and create something on my own.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My path to user experience design was shaped by a love for helping people and an appreciation for well-crafted design. As a kid, I always loved to create. I never thought I could make an impact through my creative work until I started working at a non-profit. Designing social media posts to tell stories with meaningful messages made me realize that I could pursue what I love and make a difference.
I enjoy identifying problems in the communities I live in—whether related to mental health, career navigation, or technology. I’m passionate about bridging knowledge gaps, introducing valuable resources and advanced skills, and sharing them with underserved communities.
What sets me apart is my art direction. I love bringing different concepts together in creative ways to help others see the world through a new and refreshing lens.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Since the design and technology landscape never stops evolving, it’s crucial to find sources and people who are up-to-date with the latest trends. In an ocean of information, it can be overwhelming to filter out what’s most relevant and reliable. I wish there were more personalized guidance on which information and resources to seek out—something directly helpful for my own path.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding part of being creative is telling untold stories. Different people have different ways of viewing the world. Through art, you have the opportunity to step into a part of someone else’s life, gaining a piece of their perspective and experiencing something you might never have otherwise. It opens up your worldview from a new angle. Like learning history or reading books, you can apply these lessons to your own life in a safe space.
