We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chi Fan Wang a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Chi Fan, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I believe in my mission to create animations that can bring smiles to the world. In these times, marked by numerous wars, many suffer, losing loved ones or their homes. Through my animations, I aspire to offer a moment of happiness, even without financial aid. This journey drives my continual learning and enhancement of my skills, with the hope that one day my creations will not only bring joy but also inspire. Additionally, I aim to produce anti-war animations to convey the message that war is never the answer.

Chi Fan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
When I was in college, I thoroughly enjoyed creating animations and sharing them with people, bringing them joy and surprise. I established my own studio in Taiwan to produce commercial work, and further pursued studies in an art school to sharpen my animation skills. This journey led me to an exciting animation opportunity in New York.
One project I am particularly proud of took place five years ago. I created an E-Gate animation in Taiwan, designed to intuitively instruct people on using the E-Gate system, thereby streamlining their customs clearance and travel experience. This project not only boosted my confidence but also fueled my determination to enhance my skills in America.
At this stage, my learning continues. I am committed to the art of animation, and even after fifty years, I plan to keep innovating and creating animations that captivate and entertain audiences.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I’ve come to realize the importance of refraining from judging others and their artwork. In the past, I often judged people and their creations without fully understanding their backgrounds or perspectives. This lack of understanding wasn’t fair to them, and as a consequence, I lost some friends and potential connections. Given another chance, I would avoid judging others, including their art. Instead, I would focus on self-improvement. With aspirations to become an animation teacher, I am working towards being an educator who encourages students without judgment.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe that the principle of ‘no sooner said than done’ is crucial, both in how we interact with others and how we conduct ourselves. This includes not only executing tasks assigned by superiors with excellence and ensuring our work is error-free but also maintaining personal commitments. Specifically, it’s vital to consistently practice animation and engage in activities that enhance our work. Upholding commitments to ourselves is a cornerstone of integrity; failing to do so undermines our credibility with others.
