We recently connected with Cheyona Broomfield and have shared our conversation below.
Cheyona, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Since i can Remember I’ve always been a creative , like my parents . I started To paint and explore my creative side at 9 years old . Painting and drawing was my first means of creativity and the artist in me grew rather swiftly . At the age of 16-17 i suffered with a traumatic health scare which pushed my creative means to its limit, that’s where my love for the beauty industry stemmed from mostly. Makeup helped conquer my lack of self esteem during this time, and from then on all things Beauty has been my path .

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
One of the things that I’ve learned about myself being in the industry over 10 years is my ability to fit into all beauty styles . At this point in creative journey, I’ve fallen in love with dramatic glam & Sfx . I love being able to play in different colors and just let me creative juices flow . I’ve learned very early on to just be myself and be as creative as i want . I always want my followers and those that find enjoyment in watching my journey is to know me for me as an artist .
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me Being able to be myself in this industry is one of the most rewarding things. Having such a colorful personality and vibrant life has always stood before me and helped me through my beauty journey . I will Never regret going down this path . Always find your passion and craft that you love and not just tolerate .

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
Something that has been a huge drawback in my journey is none creatives not understanding my creativity . Makeup is a form of art and creative genius . If i want To wear blue lipstick, so be it , it’s art . If i want To draw flowers as my brows , again it’s Art . As creatives we must always be ourselves and creative art freely. Never change due to someone who doesn’t understand your art .
