We recently connected with Cheyenne Kopelson and have shared our conversation below.
Cheyenne, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
Susan:
I grew up in a home where my parents taught me I could do anything-anything at all. My mother is an eternal optimist who, while I was growing up, worked as a substitute teacher and had a natural gift for math. My father was a true jack-of-all-trades, the kind of person who could fix just about anything with a roll of duct tape, and he worked as a homebound teacher for the Alpine School District in Utah.
They both showed me the power of adaptability, creativity, and believing in yourself. I never second guessed the things they taught me, and I think that’s why I was able to jump, without hesitation, into starting Harvest Massage & Wellness. That deep rooted confidence, passed down from my parents, continues to guide the way I lead, care for others, and build something meaningful.
Cheyenne:
What my parents did right was create a home full of laughter, warmth, and adventure. While no childhood is perfect, mine genuinely felt like a “rainbows and butterflies” experience. They led by example, working hard, playing harder, and finding joy in the everyday. My parents taught me to value happiness just as much as responsibility, and from a young age, that mindset stuck with me.
Those lessons have shaped who I am today as both a massage therapist and a business owner. The same laughter and warmth I grew up with now radiate from my massage room, creating a space where clients can relax, feel safe, and be themselves. I’m especially grateful for the resilience I learned from my parents and siblings; no matter what challenges come my way, I know I’ll bounce back. That sense of grounded optimism has become one of my greatest strengths, both in life and in work.

Cheyenne, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We’re Susan Kofford and Cheyenne Kopelson, the mother-daughter duo behind Harvest Massage & Wellness in Provo, Utah. Susan has been a massage therapist for over 20 years, and about 10 years ago, Cheyenne apprenticed under her mother, following in her footsteps.
A few years ago, we started toying with the idea of opening our own office, and once we took that leap, everything seemed to fall into place; our building, our name, even the incredible team we now work with. From there, we moved forward without looking back.
At Harvest Massage & Wellness, we offer a variety of massage modalities, as well as life coaching and foot zoning. We’re also proud to run a hands-on massage apprenticeship program, offering discounted services while helping train the next generation of skilled, heart-centered therapists.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
Absolutely! We both feel incredibly honored to hold space for others and help facilitate healing—physically, emotionally, and energetically. It’s a deeply personal and meaningful kind of work, and the fact that we get to do it every day, and then be thanked for it, is something we never take for granted. There’s something truly special about being part of someone’s healing journey, whether it’s their first massage or their hundredth. We really do have the best jobs in the world, and we’re so grateful to do this work side by side!

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
We truly have the very best team at Harvest Massage & Wellness! What’s our secret? Every member of our team is either a close friend or family member, and we wouldn’t want it any other way. That foundation of trust, love, and genuine connection creates a work environment that feels more like a home. We’re incredibly comfortable with one another, and that ease shows up in the way we communicate, support each other, and care for our clients. When you walk through our doors, you’re not just entering a wellness space, you’re stepping into a place where people genuinely enjoy being together and are fully invested in helping others feel better. That kind of energy can’t be faked, and we believe it’s a big part of what makes our space so special.
