We recently connected with Cheyenne Glover and have shared our conversation below.
Cheyenne, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
One of the biggest risk I’ve taken is stepping out of my comfort zone and answering a Facebook post about needing models for a photography portfolio.
I’ve always felt very anxious and shy, but always had an interest in modeling. I never felt like it was something I’d be able to do. Fear and anxiety always stopped me from trying new things. I was scrolling through Facebook and this local photographer was seeking models so she could expand her portfolio. I don’t know what it was that convinced me to message her, but something did and I’m so glad I did.
She liked my look and we scheduled a photoshoot. I was one with my bestfriend, which helped a lot. I felt slightly nervous and insecure at first, but slowly warmed up to it. She was/is an amazing photographer who I still work with today.
Due to me answering that one post I have had a lot of doors open, so many connections. I’ve met other photographers and models, I’ve been on film sets, and started to come out of my shell. It helped me gain confidence and do something that I never dreamed of being able to do.
I didn’t know how reaching out to her would go, but it was worth the risk of putting myself out there and spiking my anxiety.
Cheyenne, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My main job is being a licensed esthetician. I’ve had my license since 2018. I adore my career with all my heart and I feel blessed to be able to do what I do. I do my best to give my clients the best experience while they are in my room, if it’s only for a short 30 minutes or for hours. I get to help people feel and look their best, which brings me so much joy. It’s a job that I believe you must have a good heart and energy to be get through because alot of what we do is energy transfers. I try to allow people to relax and feel absolutely comfortable so they can leave their worries behind while they are on my bed. Removing negative energy and allowing them to leave feeling better and revived. I offer many services from permanent brows, other brow services, lash treatments, facial treatments, and full body waxes. I want future clients to know that everyone is welcome and that I just want everyone to love themselves and feel comfortable and confident in their own skin
On the side I model. I’ve been doing it for a little over a year and I love it. It’s alot of fun being able to express myself in multiple different ways and being able to push myself. It’s helped with my anxiety and confidence. It’s connected me with alot of people and helped me grow. I’m doing photo shoots that I never dreamed I could do, and blows my mind that they have become a reality. It’s a rush to plan a shoot, do it, and then see what I can do. Sometimes it doesn’t feel real. I feel beyond blessed to be able to do this and hope it helps other women feel like they can do anything too. I want others to stop letting fear and anxiety prevent them from following their dreams, because you never know what you are missing
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part is helping others, with my career and my hobby.
Being an esthetician, seeing someone leave with a smile, knowing that I made their day better is what makes me love my job. Knowing that someone was able to get a must needed nap, therapy session, or just able to spoil themselves is what keeps me going.
The most rewarding part of modeling is the freedom to shoot whatever I want. The photographer and I can create whatever we can think of, and bring it to life. I can be whoever I want in front of the camera and bring dreams to a reality
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My biggest goal is to just continue to grow and better myself. There is no end mission, just to make as many people feel beautiful and push myself to create as many shoots as I can
