We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cheyenne Bell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Cheyenne, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
When I was 18, I was lined up to go to the Air Force and right before I was supposed to go to basic training. I decided that I was going to be a hairstylist and an entrepreneur..

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Cheyenne, The owner of Hausofcheauty; I am 24 years old. I have a three-year-old daughter named Stefanie. Born and raised in Southern California, As a young girl growing up in the Antelope Valley, I was determined to make it out of this small town and follow my dreams of becoming my boss. I was the first to graduate high school and go to college in my family. At 18 years I decided against my career choice, which was to be in the Air Force. I also dropped out of college to become an entrepreneur. I’ve always had a passion for cosmetology. I’ve always been the friend who does their other friend’s hair and make-up. I first started off doing nails, and then I decided I liked doing hair better., I was among the first to start doing lace, wigs, and lace frontals in the Antelope Valley, which made me extremely popular very quickly. I made $17,000 in my first year in business without proper business training or education. It was just pure vibes and things I learned from the Internet and the people around me. My family was a massive support system for me. They helped me with so much, from hair supplies to bringing clients and being my clients. There were no classes or webinars that taught me what I knew; I had to learn all of these things through experience and the Internet. The thing that I’m all proud of is the fact that I took a risk, and it paid off. Had I not taken that risk, I would’ve never had my daughter, which is my greatest accomplishment in life. I want my clients to know that you can Do whatever you set your mind to as long as you put God first. This guy is the limit, especially my young girls who are still in high school or in college and they’re trying to figure out if they should take that step and the answer is yes we should take that step. You never know what the universe has free waiting on the other side if it’s something that’s tugging on your heart and it’s a feeling that you just cannot deny, turn the world off and you put yourself first.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2020 a friend and I decided to co-own a building To do hair and make up out of as well as sell our products and merchandise. We were set to launch in May of 2020 however, Covid had stopped everything in April 2020 and we were not able to launch in fact we were never able to get that business off the ground and we ended up having to scrap the hole idea and start from scratch. I also had to take a year off because I did have a baby during Covid as well in 2022 I finally got back to being a hairstylist full-time .

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
From the very beginning, I pried myself on being someone that my clients felt comfortable and confident with. My goal with my clients is to ensure they feel their best selves; transforming women has always been near and dear to my heart. I love to see a woman’s confidence level go up right before my eyes. I try to be a friend and a stylist. Some of my clients have even become part of my family, and I have become part of theirs. As a black woman, our hair means a lot to us, and I take pride in the fact that another woman trusts me with her crown and her face, with that being said, I want to connect with them as best as possible.
