Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chey Charvis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chey, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Just Body Glow’s name came to me after I had experienced one of the most traumatic times in my life. On September 3, 2020, I lost my son at 2 weeks old. After some version of healing, I started to question life and my purpose. I had to think about what drives me. Grief began to bring me back to a space of self discovery. Trying to find the answer to “what makes Chey happy” turned into relearning myself in ways that I couldn’t imagine! That, coupled with the desire to honor my son, I leaned back into skincare. If you look at my logo, you’ll see that the letters JB are large and surrounded by wings and topped with a halo. The JB are my son’s initials. The wings and halo represent both the life and of him, the new business venture, and the beauty surrounding it all.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Chey and I am a 37 year old licensed aesthetician. I got into aesthetics very on in life as I was naturally curious about things like hair and skin. I “lost” some passion for the beauty industry in my mid-to-late twenties but came back to it after the loss of my (baby) son. I currently specialize in corrective skincare and hair removal. I chose to align myself within this specific field because I was a child/teen with severe eczema on my arms and legs. Where there wasn’t eczema, there was really dry skin. I remember growing up and going to the doctor often for my skin conditions and wishing that I didn’t have to deal with it. There were times when I was so insecure about the dark marks from all of the scratching and picking that I would do. When I was in my late teens/early twenties, I did the research and learned how to make things to take care of my skin. I was into that for many years before life began to catch up. I stopped doing what I loved to do in order to “take-on” life. For my clients, I help create goals so they can have skin that they feel good with. My clients love seeing results in their skin after a service. What sets me apart from other places is that, starting out as a solo practice, I am really able to build relationships and trust with my clients. They love how intimate the space is and I have made many new friends because of the nature of care and thoughtfulness that I put into each person.
Right now, the thing I am most proud of is having enough clientele and having over 1 year in business under my belt.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think the thing that has helped the most in building my reputation within my market is word of mouth and great reviews. I have not made use of social media (in a way that would really build the business). When people speak highly of you and your business, you may not need social media.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me is (1) word of mouth and (2) Google.
