We were lucky to catch up with Chevonne Warren recently and have shared our conversation below.
Chevonne, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I have always had a regular job. I was with a company for 6 and a half years, some Of those years as a business owner. When I took on being a business own full time many thoughts ran through my head but being the person I am I knew I could do anything I put my mind to. Being a business owner full time was the best thing that happened to me. It was like it was destined, I just needed that actual push from a horrible boss that got me where I am today. I love the growth and places it has taken me. I feel like I was always destined to own a successful business. That’s what I went to school for. I feel like I was comfortable working for someone but God had to make me a little uncomfortable to put me in a better position. Im definitely the happiest I’ve ever been and my growth is out of this world. Can’t wait for more!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started braiding in middle school which soon turned into full blown talent. I wasn’t really interested in being a hairstylist but was pushed even more towards it Willie attending college. I was all of my friends favorite when it came down to their hair. I was the friend stylist. Later I actually became a stylist once I realized I really had a talent. I named myself Hair by Chevonne. Once I left the regular job world, I took on doing hair full time in 2019. I now have my own ceramic flat iron, hair bundles, hair growth oil, hair bonnet, edge band, and more. I offer weave and protective style services. My clients are everything and I have formed really great relationships just by doing their hair. The beauty salon is that get away to just talk about things and gain knowledge, I absolutely love salon talks. What sets me apart from everyone else is simply ME. I can’t be anyone else but me. My work ethic, my determination, my personality, that’s what sets me apart. I pray to one day reach the number 1 goal I’m working towards. I’m most proud of my growth and ability to maintain through whatever has been thrown my way. I hope all my new clients, followers, and fans see what I see in myself and support me and my brand. I aim to please and I don’t plan on stopping until I do.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I started my business with a few needed items and me. That’s all I initially had. As I continued to do hair and make money I brought more things that was needed. Once I started adding products accessories to my business I used the money I made. I built my business from the ground up. I will be looking into finding soon so that my business will have the chance to to exactly where I want it to be.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media was the best platform before I actually started doing hair. I would do my friends hair and post it on Facebook then boom, everyone wanted their hair down too. I literally built my entire clientele via social media. Now, content is the number one thing I focus on to build clientele. A good marketing video will draw anyone towards your business. Advice for those starting a business would be to be professional and target the audience you want. It’s important to make time to post things with your business so you can continue to grab peoples attention.
