We recently connected with Chet Pajardo II and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Chet thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
As a student, I’ve been blessed by God with the curiosity and willingness to learn about various areas of knowledge. Currently, I use those God-given talents, along with others, as a video editor. I mean it might sound obvious, but I just learned the craft primarily on YouTube haha. One of my sisters and I use to post YouTube videos over a decade ago using Windows Live Movie Maker to edit (It was not the most advanced software out there, but it started the journey). Gradually, through watching YouTube tutorials, using different software, and getting help from others, my editing skills improved.
Knowing what I know now, I should have surrendered and put my trust in Jesus Christ A LOT sooner. Putting my faith in Jesus has not only sped up my learning process in the art, but in all aspects of life. Don’t take my word for it though. As King Solomon notes in Proverbs 9:10, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding”. I am forever grateful to Christ.
The skills or behaviors that I believe that are most essential in improving in any endeavor are 1) Loving God and putting Him first in everything you do (even when it seems difficult or we think we know better lol) 2) Humbling myself and realize that I don’t know anything. In fact, I know less than probably 0.1% of all there is to know and that’s okay (Hopefully I’ll get to 0.2% someday. 3) Staying consistent. Whether it’s video editing, the gym, or learning a language, consistency is key. It’s important not only in time spent (weekly, daily, hourly), but also in quality and topic. 4) Have fun. Make sure you smile lol.
The biggest obstacle that has stood in my way of learning more is ultimately myself. I play A1 defense on myself and it’s not something to boast about. However, as Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me”. Fortunately, slowly but surely, I’m listening to the Lord more and more every day.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello Everyone!
My name is Chet Pajardo II. It all began when I get bit by a radioactive spider and gain some really awesome but strange superpowers…joking haha. Anyway, hi everybody. I’m Chet and I’m a 25 year old video editor from Baltimore, Maryland.
As I stated before, I got into video making/editing around 10-12 years old. My sister, Chey, and I use to make funny skits for YouTube. Overtime, the love for the craft expanded into animation and music. Chey and I, along with two of my brothers, Malik and Malcolm, have continued our YouTube aspirations with Bashful.CR8. Currently, we primarily post basketball related shorts and long format videos and we plan on expanding our content into other areas in the near future.
Although, we own our own entertainment business, I also do videography and editing for others through Loop Digital. Loop Digital was created by my brother Chris and me in 2023 in order to provide filming services to various types of clients. We serve individuals, companies, and brands by filming and editing high quality content for them to use at their discretion.
Really, I’m just happy that we have all been able to come together as a family, use our God given talents, and create or serve in different areas of life. The main thing that I would want potential clients, followers, or fans to know is that God is good all of the time. Secondly, whether it’s a video for our business or a video for a client, we treat it with the same seriousness, effort, and time. We’re not happy with lazy work.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The goal or mission driving my creative journey is to serve God and others humbly in love. In Matthew 22:36-40, “Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” I truly believe that no matter what endeavor you decide to pursue, keeping these words in mind is the key.
I know that might seem like a “broad” or “general” answer, but I really can’t provide a better answer than that. However, I haven’t always thought this way. When we first started, even though I believed in God, I wasn’t putting Him first. This led to all types of unnecessary anguish. Thankfully, now that’s the main focus: do the Lord’s work (whatever that may be). As for right now, we will continue to make high quality content and build up our channels. I hope you stick around to see us flourish. Come join the fam!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
This question makes me laugh because I can give y’all a plethora of times that I had to pivot in another direction. In interest of time, I’ll only say one story. I began releasing music I think in 2018-19 and even though it was still a part of Bashful, it essentially was it’s “separate” thing. Fast forward to 2020, I graduated college and came up with what I thought at the time the most brilliant idea ever, “Let’s combine the music, the videos, (and whatever else we were doing at the time) into one thing”. I know this might not sound too crazy, but I wanted us to do around 15 different things at the same time.
So, being the “genius” that I thought I was, I told my sister Chey, and brothers Malik and Malcolm this idea. Of course, being the geniuses that they actually are, they all said “That is way too much to do at once. We should focus on one thing at a time”. Unfortunately, I did not listen…which led to us essentially not accomplishing anything consistently in the long term. In other words, I had to pivot my way of thinking and listen to God and my family.
Proverbs 15:22 – Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.
