We recently connected with Cheryl Arnold and have shared our conversation below.
Cheryl, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I have a BFA in ART and a teaching degree(s) in Special Education. Also an M.ED
I taught school and private students for for 23 years combining my skills.
In the past few years(7)when I retired I did a lot of searching-joined galleries etc.
I started with a pair of earrings and a worthy teacher-jeweler of 28 years.
I have also during the time I was teaching took 7 years of summer classes at SCAD(many jewelry classes).
I went from there to learn about stones pearls ,metals and kept taking his private class.
I was fascinated with all that could be created.
I met a few people and joined the “vendor” squad, as I name it.
It has been three years and I now create bracelets, necklaces and earrings.
I run a small business at the markets and am in one Art Gallery.

Cheryl, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My jewelry is set apart as I make one of a kind creations.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes.
I donate 10% to all the sales for various charities.
I started that and think it is why God has allowed me this creativity.
At first I was not doing as well as before but then everything changed.
I am never really sure if the day will go well or the rain will come
but I do get to meet a lot of different persons and I love that.
In the art world people can go to buy a painting from retail stores and the look alike of geninue
oil paintings.
I am amazed how great they all appear.
In community we need to encourage each other -go to shows-not depend on
government funding to help each other as a creative community
