We recently connected with Chervice Belton and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Chervice thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What was the most important lesson/experience you had in a job that has helped you in your professional career?

I learn at an early age to get the job you want not the job you get.
Working for a 9-5 is cool if its something you love love doing. I have always wanted to be on my own lane in entertainment and drawing as always been with me as a child. Years I tried music and modeling and then slowly came e back to art. So now I’m a Character Designer for my own anime/comic company called OAO Comics. To show the world a new and different insight and black anime. I’ve learned through jobs that your work ethic, which is something I take pride on, is far more important than just being a higher rank boss. Yeah you can make a lot of money and have a big company but with out that drive how would you keep it?.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I’m a mom of two, I self taught myself how to draw. I’m more proud of actually not giving up on my craft, because I once did because of deep depression. I’m proud of myself for still fighting. I work hard. With our company here at OAO Comics. You can trust we take pride in our service. Making sure every customer is heard and handle with care. We want to give than outstanding performance, and we do everything. Our products are made in our own vision, with seven books out since we est in 2019. We are an black owned, family oriented business and we show every diversity of characters in our story. Giving you our urban experience. We have our books and merch for all ages and more to come. Working on a future anime is in the works.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My goal and mission is to give our children a better future. To give them the keys to life where they can live freely without any restrictions.
