Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cherrie Lynn Almonte. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cherrie Lynn, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I was a registered nurse prior to being a content creator. Technically, I still am, but I just do not work in the hospital as much as I used to. When I was working long hours in the hospital, content creation used to be my escape and creative outlet. I would travel and take photos on my time off. One day, I was talking to one of my patients and it just hit me how life can be unpredictable. One day you are healthy and the next you are no longer able to do the things that you want to do. So I decided to take a big risk and take a chance on me. I quit my full-time nursing job and started traveling full-time and creating content for tourism boards and hotels. It has been five years since then. Up to this day I still cannot believe that I am finally living the life that I have always dreamed of. And it all started with taking a big risk and just trusting myself.
Cherrie Lynn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into content creating by chance. My husband and I love to travel together and used to post about it on social media. One day a hotel reached out to me with a proposal to stay in their hotel for free in exchange of taking photos and posting them in my social media feed. That was the moment that opened all the doors for me into the world of content creation and social media marketing. We continued traveling and spent long hours of perfecting our craft. There are countless sunrises that we had to chase and late night editing and I think all these experiences made us into what we are today. I am proud of the brand that we made for ourselves. I am proud of our work ethics. I am proud of the relationships that we built and the amazing friendships we’ve made.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building a community in social media takes time. Other than traveling to beautiful destinations and providing inspirations, I also make sure that I am able to provide value to my audience whether by showing the reality behind every destination or sharing a travel guide that would help them plan their future trips. But I think one of the most important things in building a community, is being relatable and being an online presence that your audience can trust.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is knowing that somehow I was able to influence other people to live their lives and explore the world. Whenever I get messages from other people telling me that they found out about a good destination or they stayed at a good hotel or they ate at a good restaurant that I recommended, it makes me happy and it makes me feel that I have done my job well, and more importantly I have helped other people.
