We were lucky to catch up with Cherri Dallas recently and have shared our conversation below.
Cherri, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Taking the leap into entrepreneurship was one of the most transformative decisions of my life. I remember the moment vividly: I had just finished serving in the United States Army for 8 years which I describe as being told what to do and when to do it. When I came home I started working in the emergency room at a hospital and was feeling unfulfilled with the job, yearning for something more. The thought of starting my own business filled me with both excitement and fear. It was a risk, Diving into entrepreneurship was like stepping into uncharted waters.
I faced challenges that tested my resilience—financial uncertainties, long hours and moments of self-doubt. Being in the Army came with a guaranteed check, meals, housing and healthcare. However something in me was clear that I did not want to work a traditional job so I had to take a chance on me and stay the course. There were times when I stumbled, learned hard lessons and experienced failures that felt insurmountable.
But each setback was a stepping stone, shaping my skills and fortifying my resolve. I discovered the importance of adaptability, the power of perseverance and the value of a supportive community. As I navigated this journey, I realized the profound impact entrepreneurship could have—not just on my life, but on others as well. With each success, I felt a growing responsibility to give back. I wanted to create a path for aspiring entrepreneurs to follow, one that would spare them some of the hardships I faced. So, I began mentoring other entrepreneurs, sharing my experiences, insights and the lessons I learned the hard way.
Today, I find joy in empowering others to pursue their dreams. I’ve developed workshops and resources designed to equip others with the tools and knowledge to succeed. Seeing others thrive, armed with the wisdom I wished I had in my early days, is incredibly rewarding. It’s a full-circle moment—transforming my own risks into opportunities for others. Taking that initial risk changed my life in ways I never anticipated. It not only allowed me to build a successful business but also to foster a community of determined individuals who are eager to make their mark. In giving back, I’ve discovered a deeper purpose, and I’m proud to be part of a movement that encourages resilience, creativity and collaboration among the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Cherri, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Books and Videos that have consistently kept me in the game mentally over the years has been The Game of Life and How to Play it by Florence Scovel Shinn. My foundation to mentoring anyone on anything first starts with mindset. Whether their goal is weight loss, business development, financial wealth, relationship, spiritual growth for me it all starts with the mind. If you can see it you can achieve it that is my mantra. There are about four or five audible books by Florence Scovel Shinn and they consist of life stories and events backed with words of affirmations and scriptures all grouped together like the law of attraction. I have listened to these audible books hundreds of times and they always elevate me back in the game.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
2008 when the real estate market crashed I went from making six figures a month to zero. With the money I had I aggressively went into budget mode and started getting certifications such as my medical assistant, phlebotomy, grant writer, coding and many others and I went back into logistics which is what I did when I served in the United States Army. You have to be adaptable and flexible to ride the storm. When I went back into logistics I went in as a warehouse worker making $10 per hour and at week 5 I was promoted to DC Area Supervisor Which was a 60k salary plus bonuses and within 60 days of that Shipping manager which came with another increase of salary. I was there for about 12 months until the location closed and was able to transition back into an entrepreneurship consulting position training others. Being humble has its perks and trusting God and the process always brings favor.
