We were lucky to catch up with Cherie Murray recently and have shared our conversation below.
Cherie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Dr. Cherie Murray. I am a Dentist, dog-mom, aunt, sister, daughter, and friend. I practice in Augusta, GA, and have been involved with LAUNCH Augusta for about three years nows. I started working with LAUNCH as a presenter at our one-day summer camp that is designed to expose youth to different fields in healthcare. LAUNCH was created, by Dr. Kendra Broussard, in 2017 to allow underrepresented, minority and economically disadvantaged students access and exposure to careers in healthcare. Approaching my third year with LAUNCH, I hope to be able to witness the continued growth of the organization in our endeavors to touch as many student’s live as possible. I am heavily involved and engaged in my community, as I serve the dental needs of my community, I also enjoy meeting other needs of the community. Working with LAUNCH allows me the opportunity to work with uplifting the next generation.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I has to leave a job where I was employed for three years and uproot myself from the familial community that I had immersed myself in during those three years. I was comfortable, but in order for me to grow and spread my wings I had to make a move for the benefit of my career.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Being flexible with whatever the day may bring. The more flexibility in your thought process and action the easier stressful times will become. Stressful situations are more easily managed when you are flexible in the receptive process during those times.
