We recently connected with Cherelle Hargrove and have shared our conversation below.
Cherelle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I took a risk by taking my last $50 and flipping it. At the time I started my business I was struggling to make ends meet. So that’s when I decided to start my business. I started making bracelets and within hours I turned that $50 into $400.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I became an entrepreneur because I was down on my luck at the time. I knew I was creative but I didn’t know where to start. Everything started to come together when I was short on rent one month, I didn’t want to ask my family for money at the time so I took a risk. At first I started with jewelry but then my customers started asking did I make keychains so I just started adding on more items to my website. I was selling everything I could.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being creative is seeing my customers be happy and smile

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In my view I feel like society can do more by simply reposting small businesses. I feel like people don’t really give us (small business owners) a chance sometimes. A post can go a long way for us.
