Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chenita Griggs. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chenita, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
When I initially started my business over a year ago, I still hadn’t really tapped into how far I wanted my business to go. I’d freely help others become successful until one day I realized that I am providing services that most does for financial gain only. However, in my case I was assisting other to reach their full potential as a generous gesture. Once I realized that I could have both, I then tapped into my purpose publicly. My initial business name was CGHRC (C.G. HR Consulting). However, as successful months continued with awesome testimonies of my client’s success, I felt the need to rebrand into a name that had more meaning. This is how I tapped into my new branding name “Intentional Success” as it speaks for itself. My main goal encourages my clients to tap into the best version of themselves. Be intentional about self-growth and always give to the world the version of you that will make a positive difference.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As for me, I’m from a small town in Tennessee called Rossville. More background about my life and purpose can be found in my first article “Exploring Life & Business with Chenita Griggs.” I’m a proud mother of two beautiful girls, family oriented, spontaneous, outgoing and very in tune with the spiritual side of myself. I enjoy helping others as well as making a difference in my community. I am most proud of the excitement I receive from my clients while coaching them to greatness. The career coaching resume revamps, and mock interviews are all services that sets you up for success. To walk through each step as my client from beginning to end give me great joy. Also, when speaking at youth symposiums and college campuses it allows me to pour into our future and provide helpful tips/tricks to utilize as needed.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
After undergrad I struggled with finding a job in my field. Every company I applied with asked for tons of experience. Not only was it discouraging and frustrating I felt that college was pointless. Regardless of my initial feelings I continued to push and cross train with tenure business professionals that was willing to pour their knowledge into a rookie. After years of mentorship in HR and gaining professional recommendations, this is when the doors opened for me. I was determined to reach my full potential, although I was uncertain of when it would happen. In the process of finding my way, I enrolled into higher education and earned my master’s in human resource management. I created my own business resume and outlined every strength. I finally landed a job in my field in 2011, look at me now. Still working in my purpose of helping others.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn frustration and lack of patience. It is so important to push yourself even when you feel defeated. I would give up so many times when things would not align the way I wanted them to. I expected immediate success, not knowing that even the most successful people had to start somewhere. I had to also learn to think outside the box, try more than one method in order to get the results I deserved. I knew that I was destine for greatness, I just had to find my own pace, patience, and continuous determination to reach my goals.
