The whole process is challenging but interested me a lot.

Chen, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
This is Chen Tang. He completed his master’s degree in Visual Effects, Game Development and Interactive Design as a double major at Savannah College of Art and Design in 2021, following my undergraduate studies in Biology at Wuhan University. It is enthusiasm leads him into CG world. It is my dream to contribute myself to create an immersive virtual world that people can live in. He is currently doing FX artist/TD at Ingenuity Studios. Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My creative journey began as an undergraduate Biology student, where a childhood love for painting resurfaced during elective classes in digital art. The spark ignited when exposure to 3D art captured your fascination, particularly inspired by animated masterpieces like “Zootopia” and “Coco.” Recognizing my passion, I decided to shift gears and delve into the world of CG. Opting for a Visual Effects and Game Development degree at SCAD, my dream now revolves around contributing to the creation of immersive virtual worlds, fueled by the desire to craft experiences where people can truly live and get lost in the magic of my artistic endeavors.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Society can best support FX artists and cultivate a thriving creative ecosystem by recognizing their integral role in storytelling and implementing measures for their education, fair compensation, and access to cutting-edge technology. Establishing industry recognition, promoting diversity, and providing mental health support are crucial for fostering a healthy and sustainable environment. Creating collaborative spaces, facilitating networking opportunities, and encouraging public engagement with visual effects further contribute to the growth and appreciation of FX artists, ensuring a dynamic and inclusive creative community.
