We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chemeka Kelly. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chemeka below.
Chemeka, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is my blogger cite Alacrity 4 Women. Women deal with so much on a daily basis. As mothers, wives, career driven individuals, we often lose ourselves! At one point, I didn’t know how I was maintaining. The constant hustle & bustle had drained me mentally and physically. Writing is my escape! I began this blog to encourage women to self care, relax, and not feel guilty for taking a moment just for themselves! Alacrity = Clarity!

Chemeka, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Meka Kelly. I’m a 45 year old wife, mother, and educator, During the pandemic, I started a blog called Alacrity 4 Women. At that time, I came to realize how important mental health and self care is for women. So, I began to document my personal anecdotes in an open forum. The main thing I want to accomplish with my blog is for my audience to not only relate but feel as if they gained something from the articles. Join me at www.itsmrskelly.com

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Divorce…..
Divorce forced me to become resilient, determined, and I had to learn to persevere. After losing everything, having to file bankruptcy, and working multiple jobs just to survive, I became stronger than I ever knew that I could be. It’s amazing what your will can do for you. I knew I had two people depending on me; I could not crumble in the face of defeat. I had to pick myself up, face those challenges, and go thru a metamorphosis that would eventually lead to a better me.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is to be a positive inspiration for not only women but especially brown and black girls. Young ladies of color must SEE women that look like them that are successful, are driven, and are living life to the fullest!
