Chemajah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Innovation comes in all shapes, sizes and across all industries, so we’d love to hear about something you’ve done that you feel was particularly innovative.

I know innovation to be something that is created like no other, so to say an original piece. But for me I’ll say innovation in this question is what’s the most achieved thing I’ve done in my career specifically beauty, and that for me would be creating (in process TBA) my very first own custom premium vegan lip scrubs, under my business CocoBeats Makeup Cosmetics llc. This is something I’ve always wanted to do in my business being that my name has cosmetic in its own, and wanting to be able to give people a reason to want to take care of their skin while wearing beautiful makeup. As said it is still in the process of being fully prepared, but you can keep in touch of when it will be released through my social media!

Well hey there to everyone out there I’m Chemajah Watkins also known as Coco B. The B stand for beats sometimes I hear people say cocobeats and I laugh lol. But overall in this profession, everyone calls me coco! I am the CEO & owner of CocoBeats Makeup Cosmetics, and a Makeup Artist located in the peachstate Atlanta, GA! I am truly honored that you’re reading this or even if you skimmed through it. Whoever that is, I love y’all and thank you for reading & supporting me!

I started off as a self taught makeup artist for 5 years, I started when I was 16!
Over the years as I was perfecting my craft doing faces for little to no money, I was very much determined too get my skills right because I am a driven person. I became passionate about it and always told myself. “I’m going to stick with this no matter what job I get, keep this in your pocket!” Fast forward to last year 2021, I trained to become a professional makeup artist, and succeeded into doing so by graduating on to becoming officially certified. Since then, I’ve had the pleasures to do some amazing things with my business and connect with all different types of people! I’m such a social butterfly when I need to be!

My brand represents enhancing the natural beauty of all faces to radiate confidence from within! Makeup is Grand Yes, but you know what’s more marvelous? The canvas. The foundation! I implement the desire to want flawless ageless skin underneath the makeup so to therefore truly enhance the Natural beauty of … You! So because I inspire that I aim to execute it!

I offer premium quality services with exceptional service in a calm, fun, welcoming atmosphere. In regards to makeup application I specialize in looks for occasions like weddings, anniversaries, also fashion shows, editorial, model makeup etc..

Recently this year 2022, I have learned how to properly eyelash application. However I am very new to this industry, so I won’t be taking any clients as of this moment! I am perfecting my craft, so stay tuned in and you can keep up with my journey on my social media accounts. This is a skill I’ve learned so I could be able to expand on my business even more!

I’ve done so many things that I never even thought I could do in my short time in this professional world of makeup, and I’m most proud of starting the ground work on creating custom, unique products for my cosmetic line. I’m working on creating vegan lip scrubs first on the list! I wanted to start with the lips because it’s one of second natural things you’re drawn to when looking at a person’s face. Them lips needs to be together honey ok, Lol! That’s just the start of a long list of things getting checked off to accomplish, so much more to look forward for CBM!

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?

The people, groups and videos I’ve had the pleasure to come in contact with, watch and discuss in this stage of my career has tremendously helped me further my knowledge of how to operate and run a successful business. With learning you never stop, so I’ve learned to also balance my time and my work life to not clash with each other, money management from my mentors and teachers stress the importance of saving and investing your money back into your business if not all profit.
It takes money to make money, so if you can afford to put all your money back into your business, then the reward is worth it come long term.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

Believe it for not, Having my business online through the search engine like google has been a steady consistent way for customers to find me! Properly having your business placed on search engine like Google, Yahoo, Bing, Yelp etc will definitely market your business for you, it helped my business get recognized more on a larger platform!
