Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chelsie Cahoon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chelsie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I am now at the point in my career where I can say that I do work full-time doing what I love! It took a lot of awful jobs to get to this point but I never gave up on myself or my dreams. I am both a model and content creator so I make my income from both of these worlds. I knew I wanted to model at the young age of 10 after being approached by an agency but it was not trustworthy. With content creation I didn’t really know much about it until five years ago and then I became one! It has been a full-circle moment for me with it all and I truly am so blessed. The best part is that it’s only up from here and I cannot wait to see what 2025 holds for myself and my career!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As mentioned before, I knew from a young age I wanted to model so when I got to college I finally got to start modeling my friends’ designs in fashion shows and walk the runway. Now, I walk real runways and it’s such an amazing feeling. I do not just do runway modeling either. I am a freelance model who works with many different agencies and I do print work, promotional work, event work and much more. With content creation I just kept building my online presence and eventually had tons of brands that wanted to work with me. I now create social media and UGC content for brands and it truly is so amazing. On top of those two industries I also am a business owner of a clothing brand called Music Is The Drug and sell my clothing online at musicisthedrug.us. Having been completely straightedge my entire life I wanted to show people how music can get you high entirely on its own. I believe this definitely sets me apart from many, especially in my industries. Lastly, I am also a singer and hoping to do MUCH more with my voice in 2025!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is that you get to do what you love, and in my case, even get paid for it sometimes. I don’t get paid for everything I post but I also love that I have that creative freedom to post what I want on top of those paid posts. My social media is sometimes all over the place but I try to keep it niched as much as I can while also still being human. I believe that having that human element to my modeling/content creation page is important because it shows that I am not on a pedestal and am flawed just like everyone else.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My Instagram started growing when I changed my name to @thesoberraver. This was intriguing to a lot of people because raving and talking about living a sober life wasn’t as common in 2017. Kaskade shared a story I made about meeting him at Imagine Festival and that definitely helped launch me further into the rave community. From that point on I continued to grow and eventually started posting my modeling content which is how I grew the most. Hashtags will help you so much but also engaging in general. Engage with others and encourage others to do so with you.
