We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chelsea Thomas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chelsea below.
Chelsea, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I come from a blended household. I’m the oldest child on my father side and the middle child on my mother side. I have no biological sisters on both sides of my family, but I have two step sister’s and two step brother’s.
Growing up in a blended household can be tough, especially when you feel that you need to constantly prove yourself and you’re not being seen in the way you need most. I must add that both my parents are great individuals and they did the absolute best with the cards they were dealt. I am blessed to have them both.
As a child who grew into a young adult that never got the counseling they needed; my need for people approval grew stronger. I created majority of my friendship’s and relationship’s around who I thought people wanted me to be. I was afraid to be myself because I was afraid that if people saw the real me, that would leave.
It wasn’t until I became a mother and really started healing my inner trauma that I discovered me. Through this discovery, I’ve let go of friendships and relationships that weren’t benefiting my spiritual growth.
There has been many obstacles I had to overcome and in each trial God has allowed me to come out on top. Being a single mother with no support from your child biological dad, is tough. Changing careers in the midst of a pandemic is tough. Working a full time job, attending graduate school, and raising an infant, is tough. Working a full time job, having 2 side jobs, and no adequate health insurance for your kid, while pursuing a dream, is tough. The list can go on and on, but I’ll stop here.
I have rebranded Embrace Thee Journey to focus on motivating each individual to become the best version of themselves through self advocacy, a renewed mind, perseverance, and faith. I accomplish this mission through my podcast and books.

Chelsea, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a born educator and writer. When I was a child, I always created stories and had the craziest imagination. Whenever I watched movies, I never really saw them in the same way others did. I always saw a deeper meaning to them.
I always enjoyed helping people with their problems or offering words of encouragement in their difficult times. It was something that I have always done naturally.
I have self published four books on Amazon: Soft Spoken Words, Encourage another Mum, Dust Yourself Off Huntie, and If These Walls Had Eyes. You can find my work listed under Chelsea S Thomas.
Each of my books is designed to either motivate you to cultivate the best you or to educate you on something. I complete this mission by having real people share their stories or I do research on a topic and give my opinion with hard facts to back it up. When I write my stories, I create it in a way you feel like you’re just reading a book, but I’m actually planting seeds in your mind.
I am a strong believer in you have the power to create a life you love. Whatever that looks like. However it is. It’s within your control to do so. I don’t like to compare myself to other’s because we are all different and we all have unique traits about ourselves. God only created one me and there isn’t anyone else out here that will do this business like I am or would do. Knowing that keeps me grounded when the negativity creeps in.
My only goal is to continue to plant seeds so people can begin to grow in the way they are meant to.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I am a mother first. I know this and I stand on this. However, it has been the hardest thing for me to grasp. My daughter is 4 years old now and my life is not my own.
Before her I could just focus solely on me and be selfish with my time. Now, it’s about her and what’s best for her.
This is tough, especially when you feel like you’re racing against a time clock.
Recently, I’ve accepted that right now Embrace Thee Journey will have to move at a slower pace. If it takes me a bit longer to build my company the way that I envisioned it to be, than so be it.
I’m no longer in a rush to finish the race. Instead, I’m taking my time and really thinking about what it is I want to accomplish with my brand.
I’ve developed a schedule that works and I’m actually tapping back into my creative flow.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The deadline I have set in place to relaunch my brand in March 2023 is driving a lot of my creativity right now.
