We recently connected with Chelsea Rose and have shared our conversation below.
Chelsea , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I knew from a very young age. I started taking piano lessons as a young kid and was involved in band in middle school and high school. I played clarinet and they moved me to percussion during marching band season. I started singing vocals and playing piano in my youth group band around age 14. Then in college, my voice teacher convinced me to do opera. So I stepped out of my comfort zone and was a part of 4 operas in college. I started writing in high school and have really continued ever since!
Chelsea , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m the most proud of the songs I’m releasing. My first single comes out on August 29th with several others coming out in September and October as well! When I was in college, I knew I wanted to pursue being an artist on my own, but then I moved to Nashville and really just focused on songwriting. I finally decided to pursue being an artist just over the last year. So I’m excited making the transition from just being a songwriter to being an artist. I’m excited for everyone to hear the songs that have meant so much to me.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Society can just make sure to support those of us who are unsigned artists who are fully independent. We have to pay to produce our music, to market it, and for all the graphics and details that go into it. I don’t think people really realize how much money we spend and invest in ourselves and our music. I hope more people stream, share, and support more artists who aren’t on the radio and who are working hard to make the songs be heard!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Starting from scratch and creating a song from just an idea and turning it into something beautiful. I have teared up during a co-write for a song. I knew it meant something to me, and that’s when I knew I really truly wanted to do this for the rest of my life! I love once the song gets into production and into the studio, and we really get to make it shine!
