We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chelsea Pyle a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Chelsea, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My company, Career Pro supports career changers, entry level professionals, executive level professionals, or those returning to the workforce by landing their dream career. Our mission is to position professionals to stand out and shine above the competition by partnering with them to understand their career development goals and curating the career documents they need to get their foot in the door and land their dream career. Career Pro is passionate about showcasing our client’s accomplishments and impacts and leveraging them to earn up to an $80,000 pay increase.

Hey y’all, my name is Chelsea Pyle. I am the Founder and Chief Resume Writer for Career Pro with 10+ years of experience in Human Resources, Talent and Recruiting. How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Career Pro feels strongly in our mission, vision and value proposition. When we launched in January of 2020, we started by offering $25 resumes to get our name out there and build our clientele. During that time, I was using readily available equipment and programs necessary to complete resume packages. In March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and millions of Americans were either furloughed or permanently laid off. During that time, Career Pro gave back by offering free resume reviews and coached professionals on how to update their resume to bypass the Applicant Tracking System and target their ideal job postings. During that time, word of mouth spread and the clients who spent $25 on their resumes landed careers, amassing up to $60K pay raises. Since then, Career Pro has built the revenue to invest in marketing, equipment, programs, and employee training and development/certifications to best support our clients and position them for success.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
COVID-19 has forced all of us to pivot, personally and professionally and I believe this will be for the foreseeable future. Many employers who were once against hybrid or remote work have had their opinions and visions challenged. Many organizations are now adopting hybrid or a fully remote workforce due in part to expensive real-estate space and overhead costs. If the organization prioritizes work-life balance and employee engagement in a remote work environment, this can be a huge employer branding and selling point to attract and retain qualified candidates. Even more so, COVID-19 has caused what you may have heard as “The Great Resignation”. This phenomenon earned its name when 17.9 million people quit their jobs between January – May 2021, due in part to childcare, wages, home obligations, fear of COVID, etc. Fast forward to present state, it is truly a candidate’s market. Employers are having trouble retaining employees and staffing positions; therefore, they are more willing to pay top dollar to identify and retain qualified candidates.
