We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chelsea O’Neill a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Chelsea, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
While growing up, I always heard moms talking about how, after having their children, they were experiencing urinary leakage. I thought nothing of it; I just figured that was a normal occurrence after giving birth. Once I went to physical therapy school and pursued specialized education, I realized that although urinary leakage after giving birth may be common, it is definitely not normal.
During the time I chose to take specialized continuing education courses, many of my girlfriends were either pregnant or postpartum. I knew I wanted to learn how to help them through all the ups and downs of pregnancy and the postpartum period. I want women to feel empowered, strong, capable, and able to play with their children without having to worry about urinary leakage, prolapse, diastasis recti, and many other symptoms.
That’s when I decided to start my own company. I wanted to be able to work with women one-on-one to support them in meeting their personal goals.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello, my name is Chelsea O’Neill. I am a physical therapist who has been working in the field for over a decade. I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, and I received my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University at Buffalo. I continued my education and specialized in pelvic floor physical therapy with a focus on pregnant and postpartum women. In July 2025, I moved to South Carolina.
I decided to start my own business, Connected Core Physical Therapy and Wellness, so that I could work one-on-one with women, helping them reach their personalized goals through evidence-based care. I provide mobile services, meeting patients in the comfort of their own homes.
I help women address issues such as leakage, prolapse, diastasis recti, low back pain, hip pain, core weakness, and many other symptoms. My approach is holistic, personalized, and evidence-based. I believe in treating the whole person—addressing not only physical symptoms but also emotional and mental well-being.
Through tailored exercise programs, manual therapy techniques, and education, I empower women to strengthen their core, improve mobility, and prevent issues such as pelvic floor dysfunction and urinary incontinence. My goal is to help women feel strong, connected, confident, and capable so they can fully enjoy the journey of motherhood.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Networking with local businesses has been the most effective strategy for growing my clientele. I focus on meeting chiropractors, doulas, midwives, massage therapists, holistic health care professionals, and others in the health care field. Everyone I’ve met in this area has been incredibly supportive and genuinely wants to help me succeed.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe I was able to build my reputation by demonstrating my genuine love for what I do, my compassion and empathy for my patients, and my desire to help women feel their best.
