We recently connected with Chelsea Lauridsen and have shared our conversation below.
Chelsea, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Connecting with others. It doesn’t matter if you are a single person business, you need to connect with all different types of people in all different types of environments. I can attribute a lot of my success to the network I have built. Everything from a business referral to a support system to someone to ask a question to that I hadn’t thought about before and forcing me to think outside of the box to a friend that will share a laugh with me when I need a break. It’s extremely important to build a strong and authentic network around you.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Born in Hong Kong, a city that never sleeps, I have boundless energy, and bring an intense level of passion and commitment to everything I do—work, play, and charity.
I’m a top-producing sales executive, former competitive skier and tennis player, and avid traveler. Throughout my 10+ years working in lifestyle, sports, technology and entertainment industries, I’ve increased sales, brand recognition, product trials, client retention, digital presence, and event attendance. Essentially, I’ve blazed a trail of results for forward-thinking brands and CPG companies: Red Bull, Nike, and GoPro.
I’m a natural born leader and persuasive communicator with a great sense of humor – that last one is really important. I love to connect with people. Maybe it’s from my broadcasting days. I love to captivate an audience and help consumers understand why a product, event or tech is right for them.
I am still working in the Saas Software space, but my goals for 2022 are to continue to grow my online presence and photography skills in the travel community through my Instagram page: @Lax.Chelsea
How did you build your audience on social media?
Engage with others! It’s great that you are posting and sharing your life/business/product, but spend time connecting with others on different social media platforms. Social media is meant to be social! Find people/businesses/products that are similar or compliment yours and connect with them. Ask questions, compliment what they are doing, like their photos and videos, follow other people who are trying to grow and that you find interesting.
When I take the time to sit down and engage with 5-10 other accounts a day on Instagram I see immediate growth on the platform. That growth is real and authentic which is what you actually want.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Being able to be on a constant adventure. I am so fortunate to be able to travel often, see new things, meet new people and then be able to share it with such a strong community online. It’s amazing to be able to take a beautiful photo and know that people all over the world will get to feel the way I felt in that moment and enjoy it with me.
I’ve had the opportunity to share some of my favorite places globally with others and it makes me so happy to know that they are on their own adventure now and that I have had some type of impact to make that happen.
